The Dallas Mavericks (29-26, 10-17) will likely get their first look at newly-acquired Kyrie Irving in the lineup when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers (31-26, 14-11).
Seeing how he pairs with wunderkid Luka Doncic? That will have to wait, as Doncic is out with a heel injury.
It’s a battle of two teams currently in position to face each other in the playoffs if the season ended today.
Dallas enters as the 5-seed, just a game behind the Clips, who currently hold down fourth.
It all gets underway Wednesday (Feb 8) at 10pm ET from crypto.com Arena in a game you can see live on NBA League Pass.

The NBA odds have the shorthanded Mavs as 7.5-point underdogs, and +250 on the moneyline.
Dallas has just 10 road wins, tied with the Suns for the lowest total of any top-6 team in the West. At 14-11 at home, LA has the fewest home wins of any playoff-positioned team in the conference.
Dallas Betting Analysis
After opening their 5-game road trip with a loss at Golden State, the Mavs rebounded with a 124-111 win over the Utah Jazz. It was the first win in eight games this season without Doncic in the lineup, one of the favorites in the 2023 NBA MVP odds.
Two unlikely players stepped to the forefront Monday, with Jaden Green dropping 29 points and six boards. He was matched by reserve Jaden Hardy, who had 29 points, four rebounds and four assists.

That feel-good storyline will easily shift to the background, as the arrival of the mercurial Irving is worth the price of admission.
Since forcing a trade out of Cleveland in 2017, Irving has now added bad breakups in both Boston and Brooklyn.
When he is engaged, Kyrie could be an explosive addition to Dallas, who can take pressure off Doncic creating offense, and a reliable spot-up option from distance.
He’s currently 11th in scoring with 27.1 points, adding 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists on 48.6% shooting from the field and 37.4% from downtown.
Los Angeles Betting Analysis
After a lengthy 6-game road trip, and having played 10 of the last 11 away from crypto.com, the Clippers kick off a 3-game homestand beginning with Dallas Monday.
They wrapped up their road trip with a New York double, beating the Knicks in overtime before knocking off the Nets 124-116 last time out.

Paul George led the way with 29 points and four boards, trailed closely by Kawhi Leonard, who dropped 24 points, with six assists and four boards.
The Clips have reeled off eight of their last 10, and are averaging 120.4 points per game over that stretch — a big jump from their regular season average, where they rank 27th, putting up just over 111 a night.
Defensively, LA holds teams to 110.9 points per game, the third-best mark in the league.

Mavericks vs Clippers Betting Prediction
Along with Doncic, frontcourt players Maxi Kleber (hamstring) and Davis Bertans (calf) are out, though Markieff Morris (knee), who also came over in the the trade, should be available.
Those subtractions could hamper a defense that allows 112 points per game, the 8th-best mark in the NBA.
The Clippers are just 12-13 against the spread at home, one of nine teams with losing betting records at home. Dallas hasn’t taken been a great road bet, though, running a 10-17 ATS mark away from home.
Head-to-head, LA is 4-0 ATS in the last four.
Without Luka, and with Kyrie just getting started in his new digs, look for the Clips to roll.
Pick:Â
- Clippers -7.5 (-112); 1.5 units to win 1.33 units
- NBA Betting Record: 25-25-1 ATS, 1-1 ML, 5-6 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -7.37 units
