Two Eastern Conference heavies clash in their finale before NBA All-Star Weekend, as the Cleveland Cavaliers (38-22, 13-16 away) visit the Philadelphia 76ers (37-19, 22-8 home).
Cleveland has been sizzling, entering this one on a 7-game win streak. The 4th-seeded Cavaliers are just four back of Boston for top spot in the conference.
The 76ers, meanwhile, are looking for their fourth win in a row. They hold a narrow 1-game lead on the Cavs in the East.
It all gets underway Wednesday (Feb 15) at 7:30pm ET from Wells Fargo Center, in a game you can see live on ESPN.

The NBA odds have the Cavs as slight 2.5-point road ‘dogs, with a total set at 216.
With a 22-8 mark at Wells Fargo, the 76ers are one of four East teams with 20+ wins at home (joining Boston, Milwaukee and Cleveland). The Cavs are just 13-16 on the road, but they own a 22-10 record vs the East, the fewest losses of any team in-conference.
Cleveland Betting Analysis
The Cavaliers improved to 25-6 at home with a 117-109 win over the hapless San Antonio Spurs, who’ve now lost 13 straight. Those are the second-most home wins in the NBA, and tops in the East.
Donovan Mitchell poured in a game-high 41 points, adding four rebounds and five assists. It’s the 3rd-straight game he’s led the team in scoring. Darius Garland had 16 points and seven dimes, while Jarrett Allen dropped 17 with 11 boards.

Cleveland has been a bottom-5 team scoring the ball this year, putting up 111.8 points per game, but they’ve upped their output during this streak, up to 115.6 points per game, which is just outside a top-10 ranking.
That can only help with their league-best scoring defense, which surrenders 105.9 points per game. Only one other team — the Miami Heat — is giving up less than 110 points per game, at 108.2.
That defense has been cranked up over the last seven as well, allowing 99.6 points per game.
The result? A +16 point differential on this fun-run, where they have won by double digits in five of seven games.
Philadelphia Betting Analysis
The 76ers crushed the Houston Rockets 123-104 last time out.
James Harden was the high scorer for Philly, with 28 points and 10 assists. Tyrese Maxey came off the bench and played a team-high 35 minutes, adding 26 points, five rebounds and six dimes. Joel Embiid had 23 points, six boards and four dimes.
Houston is the only soft landing on a tough, 5-game homestand that continues after the all-star break. After Cleveland, Philly hosts Memphis, Boston and Miami , before hitting the road for a 5-game trek.

Embiid, one of the favorites in the 2023 NBA MVP odds, is questionable Wednesday with a foot injury. Ditto PJ Tucker, dealing with a calf injury. Reserve Furkan Korkmaz (personal) has been ruled out. Veteran Dewayne Dedmon, recently signed after being traded from the Heat and released by the Spurs, could be available for this one.
The 76ers are middle of the pack in scoring, averaging 114.3 points per game, but they’re a top-10 unit in field goal shooting (48.3%) and top-4 in three-point shooting at 38.3%.
Like Cleveland, they’re tough on defense, allowing 110.4 points per game, the third-best mark in the NBA.

Cavaliers vs 76ers Betting Prediction
This should be a good one, with both teams inside the top-five best records in the NBA.
Philly is one of the best bets in the NBA, going 32-23-1 against the spread this season. Only the Oklahoma City Thunder cover at a higher percentage. Cleveland is fifth, with a 32-25-3 ATS record.
This will be the second of three meetings this season, with the Cavs crushing the Sixers 113-85 on Nov 30. Harden missed that game due to injury. Embiid was limited to 19 points on 6-for-16 shooting. This is one of three games (3!) where he’s gone sub-20 points on the year.
In fact, the Cavs have been the bet in this head-to-head lately, going 3-0-1 ATS in the last four, and 7-2 ATS in the last nine in Philly.
With Embiid less than 100%, I’ll happily ride the underdog with those extra points.
Pick:Â
- Cavaliers +2.5 (-110); 1.5 units to win 1.31 units
- NBA Betting Record: 27-26-1 ATS, 1-1 ML, 5-7 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -7.22 units
