Where will Shedeur Sanders be drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft? According to the latest betting odds, the talented Colorado quarterback is in serious jeopardy of slipping out of the top 10 entirely on draft night.
Sanders, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, was once viewed as a surefire top-5 pick. But after a tumultuous pre-draft process that’s seen his stock steadily fall, oddsmakers are now projecting a potentially massive slide for the dual-threat playmaker.
Let’s dive into Sanders’ latest draft position props and predict where he’ll ultimately land.

Sanders Plunging Down Draft Boards
Sanders’ draft position Over/Under is currently set at 8.5 at DraftKings, with -225 odds to the Over. This means oddsmakers believe there’s a much greater chance Sanders will be selected 9th overall or later.
It’s a notable fall for the dual-threat QB, who completed 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards and accounted for 47 total touchdowns in his final season with the Buffaloes. But based on the latest betting odds, it appears Sanders is no longer in consideration for a top-5 selection.
In fact, the top of the 2025 NFL Draft is starting to take shape, with these players emerging as betting favorites per DraftKings:
- No. 1 Pick: Cameron Ward (-10000)
- No. 2 Pick: Travis Hunter (-300)
- No. 3 Pick: Abdul Carter (-250)
- No. 4 Pick: Will Campbell (-130)
- No. 5 Pick: Mason Graham (-125)
- No. 6 Pick: Ashton Jeanty (-150)
- No. 7 Pick: Armand Membou (-115)
With defensive stars like Hunter and Carter heavily favored to go in the top 3, Sanders appears to be on the outside looking in. His 8.5 draft position O/U suggests he’ll have to wait until the Saints are on the clock at No. 9 for a real chance to be selected.

Which Team Will Draft Sanders?
The New Orleans Saints are the current betting favorites to land Sanders at +205 odds (32.8% implied probability). The Saints hold the No. 9 overall pick, which aligns perfectly with Sanders’ 8.5 draft position O/U.
New Orleans still has Derek Carr under contract but could be looking for a long-term answer under center. Head coach Kellen Moore’s offensive system would be an intriguing fit for Sanders’ dual-threat skill set.
Other contenders include the Steelers (+350), Giants (+400), and Browns (+450). It’s worth noting that Cleveland was once considered a potential landing spot for Sanders at No. 2 overall, but the heavy juice on Travis Hunter at that slot suggests they’re going in a different direction.
Still, things change on a dime, and the Browns have a glaring hole to fill at QB. But when the betting odds shift this drastically, I can’t justify the play on Cleveland, even though the risk would make sense for Kevin Stefanski’s club.
The Steelers, however, could be worth a small sprinkle, as they seem like an ideal fit from a scheme and culture standpoint. Head coach Mike Tomlin’s leadership could provide the perfect landing spot for Sanders to reach his sky-high potential. Sanders actually falling all the way to #21 is the main risk with this bet.

Could Shedeur Still Go Top 5?
While DraftKings has Sanders going 9th or later as the heavy favorite, there’s still a small chance he sneaks into the top 5. Sanders has +1300 odds to be a top-5 pick, which translates to just a 7.1% implied probability.
For that to happen, a team like the Browns (+450) or Giants (+400) would likely need to select him at No. 2 or 3 overall. But with heavy favorites emerging at those spots in Hunter and Carter, Sanders cracking the top 5 is starting to look increasingly unlikely.
Barring a major surprise on draft night, all signs point to Sanders being a mid-to-late first-round pick. His 8.5 draft position O/U at DraftKings paints a pretty clear picture of where oddsmakers expect him to land.
Shedeur Sanders Draft Prediction
So, where will Shedeur Sanders ultimately end up? I’m now predicting the Saints will scoop him up at No. 9 overall, still making him the second QB off the board behind Cam Ward.
While I don’t think Sanders makes it out of the top 10, I do expect him to slide a bit from initial projections. The NFL is a copycat league, and teams appear to be reluctant to take a swing on a QB like Sanders due to recent catastrophes like the Zach Wilson pick. Still, there’s no denying Sanders’ raw talent.
I think the Saints present an ideal landing spot for Sanders to reach his lofty ceiling. He can learn behind Carr for a year before taking the reins of Kellen Moore’s QB-friendly system in 2026.
The Saints should be thrilled if they can land a talent of Sanders’ caliber without having to trade up.
New Orleans could be the perfect spot for Sanders to rebuild his confidence after a humbling pre-draft process. He has the athleticism and pedigree to develop into a star, but sitting for a year or two behind a veteran is exactly what his game needs. If Sanders lands with the Saints, don’t be surprised if he makes a lot of teams regret passing on him.
