According to several sources, it’s a fact controversial center Dwight Howard might be just steps away from becoming a Los Angeles Laker after this Thursday night.

The trade consists mainly in the Lakers receiving Howard; the Denver Nuggets will acquire Andre Iguodala; the 76ers will receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Magic will get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the three teams.

“The Sixers are willing to take a shot (without Bynum’s commitment),” one source said. Meaning they are willing to make the trade even if Bynum, on his contract year, doesn’t want to play sign an extension

Los Angeles will get also Earl Clark and Chris Duhon. The trade needs the NBA approval, and most people remember how David Stern canceled the trade of Chris Paul to the Lakers just months ago; so they are not celebrating in the Lakers offices just yet.

Howard demanded a trade to the Brooklyn Nets a few weeks ago, but it never happened because the Magic and the Nets couldn’t figure out a decent deal for both. Kobe Bryant, on the other hand, asked the GM of Los Angeles to bring new players; well, he just got Steve Nash and possibly Dwight Howard.

The Lakers starting five looks extremely talented with Nash, Bryant, Howard, Metta World Peace and Pau Gasol, but their bench still is a question mark. The younger player of those five is Dwight Howard; the other are loaded with experience.
