Dota 2 The 2019 Bucharest Minor Odds and Props

The first Dota 2 event of 2019 will see be the Bucharest Minor running from January 9-13. The event will see the winner make their way to the Chongqing Major later on in the month, and take home a $125,000 prize.

The event is made up of two qualifying teams from Europe and China, and one qualifying team from CIS, North America, South America, and Southeast Asia.

There are many notable teams vying for a spot in Chongqing, including the winner of The International in 2018, OG. They are the slight favorite heading into the event, and look to book their way to another Major by first taking a W in Bucharest.

Can OG Keep it Rolling?

OG had probably the greatest Cinderella run in the history of esports in 2018, coming to a close when they were able to raise The Aegis of Champions and walk away with over $11,000,000 in prize money.

They head into the event the favorite to win it, and look poised to do so.

With the momentum from winning the biggest Dota 2 tournament ever, I believe the EU mixed squad will be able edge out the competition en route to qualifying for the first Major of 2019.

Odds to Reach Finals in Bucharest Minor Championship

Will it be a Battle Between Europe and China?

The top four favorites to reach the finals are either from the region of Europe or China, with OG and NiP representing the EU, with Keen and EHOME putting on for the Asian side.

I wouldn’t say that OG are a for sure lock for the finals, but I see them making it 9 times out of 10.

The team led by Danish veteran N0tail encompass what it means to work as a team, and almost always seem to grind it out.

Keen Gaming comes in with the second-best odds at -105 to reach the finals.

The team has found relative success around Asia, but haven’t really showcased what they’re capable of on the big stage. They’ve only played in a handful of tournaments against top teams in the world, and didn’t really place all that well once they were there.

They certainly stand a solid chance to make it through to play on the 13th in the finals, but my money would be elsewhere.

EHOME are the other Chinese team that stand a decent chance of battling through the tournament and representing China come championship Sunday.

The same story goes for EHOME as it does for Keen: they find success around some of the smaller tier Asian scene, but not really able to put it together on the international stage.

NiP is listed with the fourth-best odds to reach the finals, and I believe this is where you will find the true value. At +225, NiP have better odds than both of their Chinese counterparts, and stand a better chance to be one the two teams left standing come Sunday.

Having already played OG, NiP may even be able to take the whole event if they are able to make adjustments based off of their first matchup in the Bucharest Minor Europe Qualifier.

Region to Win Championship

Is There Value Betting Against Europe/China?

The two most dominant regions of Dota2, historically, are EU and China. Both stand the best chance of winning the Bucharest Minor at +120, and +135, respectively.

Now there may be some value in taking Gambit, from the CIS region, at +1000 to win outright, but it is a serious longshot.

For this tournament I don’t really see any value in taking any other teams to outright win outside of the European or Chinese sides. Expect one of the two regions to be the last qualifying teams for the Chongqing Major.
