USC quarterback Caleb Williams opened as the third-favorite in the 2022 Heisman Trophy odds, and he never looked back. Although there were times in the season when he faded to a longshot, Williams eventually secured the MVP award with 544 of 870 first-place votes.

Below, see how the 2022 Heisman Trophy odds changed over the course of the 14-week season.

Heisman Odds

  • Nov. 27: Caleb Williams (-2350) led USC to a convincing win over Notre Dame while Stroud (+3250) came up flat against Michigan and Corum (off) got injured.
  • Nov. 20: After Tennessee’s embarrassing loss to South Carolina (63-38), Hendon Hooker fell out of the running completely. Caleb Williams (+130) led USC to a huge win at UCLA (48-45) and has emerged as the main challenger to CJ Stroud’s (-128).
  • Nov. 13: Stroud and Hooker fail to distance the pack, which has opened the door for Michigan RB Blake Corum and UNC QB Drake Maye to each improve to +525.
  • Nov. 6: Hooker had his worst game of the season at the worst possible time, throwing for just 195 yards, no TDs, and one INT in a 27-13 loss to Georgia. Stroud is once again the betting favorite at +180. Hooker faded to +290 on average.
  • Oct. 30: Hooker is now the betting favorite at -105 after another big week against Kentucky. Stroud put in a good performance against Penn State, but quite simply, Hooker has been better and only four regular-season games remain.
  • Oct. 23: The 2022 Heisman odds have become a two-horse race between Stroud (-103) and Hooker (+200). The third-favorite, USC’s Caleb Williams, is way back at +1300.
  • Oct. 9: More strong play from Ohio State’s CJ Stroud has made him the odds-on favorite at -135. The second-favorite, USC’s Caleb Williams, is all the way back at +1100.
  • Sep. 26: After leading Tennessee to a 4-0 start, Vols QB Hendon Hooker has entered the top five at +1600.
  • Sep. 4: A monster game in Week 1 versus Oregon has led Georgia QB Stetson Bennett into the top five (+2100). Sitting at +9000 before the game, Bennett threw for 368 yards, two TDs, and no picks in a 49-3 rout of the #11 Ducks.
  • June 19: The preseason odds have been kind to Stroud, who is now a +183 favorite. Young faded from +275 to +375. After third-favorite Caleb Williams at +800, there is a huge drop to fourth-favorite Jahmyr Gibbs (+3000).
  • Feb. 2: Young (+275) and Stroud (+475) continue to sit first and second in the odds, but Rattler, who announced a transfer to South Carolina, has faded from +700 to +3650. Incoming USC transfer Caleb Williams is now third at +850.
  • Dec. 12, 2021: Reigning Heisman-winner Bryce Young (QB, Alabama) is favored in the opening 2022 Heisman Trophy odds, followed by CJ Stroud (QB, Ohio State) and fellow QB Spencer Rattler, whose transfer destination is unclear at this point.
