Fanatics Sportsbook announced it refunded more than half-a-million dollars in bets to customers after Steph Curry left last night’s Western Conference semifinals during the second quarter.

Curry limped off the court with a hamstring injury during game one against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but due to Fanatics Sportsbook’s Fair Play Policy the company refunded or paid out $500,00 in prop bets for customers.

The Fanatics Sportsbook Fair Play Policy triggers an automatic refund for customers who bet the over for an athlete, or an automatic win for someone who bet the under.

Profitable Policy for Sports Bettors

According to Fanatics Sportsbook, the policy has resulted in more than $2 million in payouts for the NBA playoffs. High-profile NBA athletes Damian Lillard, Jimmy Butler, Kristaps Porzingis, Ja Morant, and Russell Westbrook have all left playoff games early this postseason, triggering refunds for bettors.

During game one of the Warriors Western Conference Semifinal vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves, Curry left the game in the second quarter after a hamstring injury.

According to NBA reports, he’ll miss at least a week of action. Curry will likely be out through game four of the series before being able to return.

For this postseason, the Fair Play Policy was extended through the second quarter of each playoff game. Typically, the policy only covers the first quarter of a game.

Customers receive refunds in cash or if they were part of a parlay, the leg including the injured player is voided and the rest of the parlay pays out.

The policy was extraordinarily profitable for one Michigan bettor. The customer included Curry in a $5,000 four-leg parlay, but his leg was voided from the total parlay, which eventually won the customer $224,773.

It was the largest payout under the policy in the sportsbook’s history.

Millions Refunded Due to Fair Play

Fanatics Sportsbook instituted the policy during the start of the previous football season. Since its inception, Fanatics Sportsbook has refunded or paid out more than $8 million to customers.
