FanDuel will soon begin operating in West Virginia with a new market access partner.
FanDuel recently announced a new West Virginia market access partnership for online sports betting and iGaming through Delaware North’s Mardi Gras Casino & Resort.
“Delaware North has been a respected name in gaming and hospitality for decades, and they are an ideal partner as we continue to operate in West Virginia,” Jonathan Edson, FanDuel business development senior vide president, said in the announcement.
Will Continue Retail Partnership
FanDuel has operated in West Virginia through a partnership with the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs. FanDuel operated a brick-and-mortar sportsbook at the casino since 2018 and online sports betting since August 2019 with the Greenbrier Resort.
While FanDuel will now use its new market access partnership with Delaware North for online sports betting and iGaming, it will continue to operate the Greenbrier Resort’s brick-and-mortar sportsbook.
The partnership will not include a retail sports betting aspect with Delaware North. The company already has an in-house retail sportsbook platform through its Betly brand.
“We love working with FanDuel and are very proud to be partnered together in West Virginia,” Delaware North’s Chief Interactive Gaming Officer Lee Terfloth said. “This partnership represents the best of what Delaware North strives for, bringing trusted, innovative experiences to our customers — and FanDuel is an incredibly ally in that mission.”
FanDuel currently offers sports betting or iGaming in 26 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. FanDuel will likely also soon offer sports betting in Missouri, as it submitted an online sports betting application to the state’s gaming commission.
FanDuel acquired access to Missouri’s sports betting market through a partnership with St. Louis CITY SC after failing to secure one of two available untethered online sports betting licenses.
Delaware North Had Previous Partnership
Delaware North had a previous online sports betting and iGaming partnership with WynnBET. The two companies announced their partnership in November 2021, with West Virginia being WynnBET’s 18th jurisdiction of operation.
The partnership would only last for less than two years, as WynnBET announced in April 2023 it would be ceasing its U.S. sports betting operations. West Virginia was included in the first group of eight states WynnBET pulled out of immediately.
Delaware North has not had an online sports betting partnership since WynnBET.
