FanDuel wasted no time in announcing its intentions in Missouri after losing out on an untethered online sports betting license.
The sports betting giant announced a new Missouri sports betting market access agreement with St. Louis CITY SC. FanDuel will use this partnership to apply for a partnered Missouri sports betting license.
FanDuel arranged the partnership with St. Louis CITY SC after failing to secure one of two available untethered online sports betting licenses.
FanDuel Will Be Present in Missouri
The Missouri Gaming Commission last week awarded the valuable untethered licenses to DraftKings and Circa Sports, passing over FanDuel for the first two sports betting licenses in the Show-Me State.
In total, the commission will issue up to 19 retail sports betting licenses and up to 14 online sports betting licenses under the approved framework before it launches sports betting this December.
FanDuel representatives reported the sportsbook operator would apply for a partnered online or retail sports betting license in the state if not awarded an untethered sports betting license. It will do so prior to the Sept. 12 license application.
“Missouri is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and we are thrilled to partner with St. Louis CITY SC to introduce our industry leading product to the Show Me State,” said Mike Raffensperger, President, Sports at FanDuel. “We look forward to supporting the team and engaging with the community as we bring America’s #1 Sportsbook to fans across Missouri.”
FanDuel does not have any current partnerships with Missouri brick-and-mortar casinos.
Missouri will be FanDuel’s 25th state or territory of operation after launch.
Missouri Sports Betting Process Moving Forward
With the gaming commission awarding the first two sports betting licenses, the Show-Me State only has a few more deadlines to reach before launching later this year.
Here is the remaining Missouri sports betting schedule:
- Sept. 12: All other partnered retail and online sports betting license applications must be completed
- Dec. 1: Deadline for the launch of Missouri sports betting
So far, Underdog and Fanatics Sportsbook have applied for partnered sports betting licenses. FanDuel will do so as well. Underdog and Fanatics Sportsbook have yet to announce their market access partners.
