Heavy Month of Promotions

The sports betting totals were reported to the Missouri Gaming Commission on Jan. 15, 2026. As expected, online sports betting dominated the month, with account holders betting $538,881,519 across licensed online sports betting platforms compared with $4,157,611 through retail sportsbooks.

In total, Missourians bet $543,039,131 across retail and online sportsbooks for its inaugural month of sports betting. The number of online sports betting wagers came in at more than 25.6 million compared with 48,637 bets placed at land-based sportsbooks.

Despite the energetic handle totals, the Missouri Gaming Commission reported an overall adjusted gross revenue loss of $20,758,443. This can largely be explained by the heavy number of sports betting promotions licensed online operators offered to new customers, which the state does not allow to be deducted from losses.

In total, Missouri sports wagering tax revenues came in at $521,200.
