New York Notches Record Setting Year of Sports Betting

New York online sports betting had a massive 2025.
The Empire State set new online sports betting records for both handle and gross gaming revenues this past year. New York online sports bettors wagered nearly $26.3 billion during the year, about $3.5 billion more than in 2024.
The state took in more than $2.5 billion in gross gaming revenues for the year, nearly $500 million more than it did in 2024.
New York Leading U.S. Sports Betting Markets
New York continued to show why it is the top U.S. sports betting market. Sports betting customers bet a total of $26,275,491,294 in 2025, a 14.8% increase over the 2024 online sports betting handle total of $22,873,496,733.
Additionally, New York reported $2,548,318,181 in gross gaming revenue, leading to $1,299,642,272 in sports betting tax revenues for the year. Gross gaming revenues increased by 23.7% over the 2024 total of $2,059,297,238.
Sports betting tax revenues increased in 2025 by $249,400,681 compared with its 2024 totals.
New York Closes Out 2025 With Strong Month
New York closed out 2025 with another strong month, as New York customers bet $2,381,848,510 in December. The state reported $259,678,102 in online sports betting gross gaming revenue, the second most profitable month of sports betting New York has ever experienced.
Despite the high numbers, December actually saw a decrease in both handle and gross gaming revenue when compared with November. December’s handle total decreased by 8.6% compared with November’s handle total of $2.6 billion, while the gross gaming revenue total experienced a 7.4% decrease compared with November’s $280.5 million.
January 2026 Off to Fast Start
The New York State Gaming Commission releases handle and revenue reports for its nine live NY sports betting apps, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel, BetMGM, Fanatics Sportsbook, Bally Bet, Resorts World Bet, theScore Bet, and BetRivers, at the conclusion of each week.
For the week ending Jan. 4, 2026, New York sports bettors wagered $575,862,427 and the state reported $73,974,734 in gross gaming revenue.
FanDuel and DraftKings maintained their top spots in the state for the week. FanDuel reported $200,578,770 in sports betting handle and $34.3 million in gross gaming revenue, compared with DraftKing’s $203,663,207 in handle and $22.8 million in gross gaming revenue.
