  • The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported more than $88 million in sports betting revenue for the month of May
  • It was the state’s most profitable sports betting month of 2025
  • Ohio sports bettors wagered more than $741.2 million in May

Ohio sports betting operators hammered the public in May to lead to the Buckeye State’s most profitable month of 2025.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported $88,814,412 in taxable revenue for May, the most profitable month Ohio has experienced since notching nearly $81 million in revenue for January.

The commission reported $741,271,201 in total sports betting handle for the month, with $727.1 million coming from online sports betting operators.

Ohio Operators Hammer Public

Ohio sports betting operators likely had its hugely successful month due to the downfall of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA playoffs. The Cavaliers were heavily favored to win their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series by the majority of sportsbooks (-500 at DraftKings prior to game 1) against the Indianapolis Pacers.

The Cavaliers eventually lost the series 4-1, likely leading to the operators’ successful month.

The public bet $741,271,201 in May, with operators paying out $646,606,074 in winning bets to customers. More than $5.8 million in bets were voided for the month.
