Davis Boxing Analysis

Keyshawn Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) has quickly become one of boxing’s hottest young stars. The 26-year-old Olympic silver medalist from Norfolk grabbed the WBO lightweight title in February with a brutal fourth-round stoppage of Denys Berinchyk

Davis has been sitting down on his shots lately, stopping three of his last four opponents. That includes former world champion Jose Pedraza and the hard-hitting Gustavo Lemos. His only hiccup—a no-contest due to a positive marijuana test—hasn’t slowed him down one bit.

Davis can box pretty from the outside or turn up the heat when he needs to. Working under trainer Brian “BoMac” McIntyre alongside guys like Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson has really sharpened his game.

His combination of speed, timing, and newfound finishing ability makes him a problem for anyone at 135 pounds. To keep his title, Davis needs to weather De Los Santos’ dangerous left hand early. Then he can impose his will with better technique and conditioning.

The hometown crowd at Scope Arena should give him extra juice. He drew over 10,000 fans for his last appearance there, so expect another electric atmosphere.

De Los Santos Boxing Analysis

Edwin De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) brings real knockout power and a tricky southpaw stance into this title shot. The 25-year-old Dominican has an 88% knockout ratio and has never been stopped as a pro.

De Los Santos earned this shot after some solid showings against top competition. He gave Shakur Stevenson one of his toughest fights in November 2023, losing a unanimous decision for the vacant WBC title.

Before that, he scored explosive knockouts over unbeaten prospects Luis Acosta and Raul Valenzuela. That proved he belongs with the division’s best.

The big question mark? Ring rust. He hasn’t fought in 19 months since the Stevenson loss.

That long layoff could mess with his timing and conditioning, especially against a sharp, active champion like Davis. He’ll need to shake off the cobwebs fast if he wants to land that fight-changing left hand.

To pull off the upset, De Los Santos has to use his southpaw stance to create awkward angles. He needs to look for spots to unleash that power.

If he can hurt Davis early and turn this into a slugfest, his punching power gives him a real shot at the biggest win of his career.

Davis vs De Los Santos Prediction

De Los Santos packs serious power and the southpaw stance creates problems. But the long layoff and Davis’ current form point to a hometown victory.

Davis will start cautious, respecting that left hand while finding his timing. Once he settles in, look for “The Businessman” to take control with his jab and movement.

De Los Santos will have his moments early, but Davis’ pace should take over in the middle rounds. The challenger has a granite chin, but Davis has become a legit finisher.

Expect Davis to cruise to a wide decision or possibly score a late stoppage as De Los Santos fades.

Davis vs De Los Santos Pick:

  • Davis by KO/TKO (+150)
