Nick Ball puts his WBA featherweight title on the line against Australia’s unbeaten Sam Goodman at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, August 16th.

This title fight serves as the co-main event on the Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte card, with the main card starting at 12:45 p.m. ET on DAZN PPV. The current Ball vs Goodman odds have the Liverpool fighter as a heavy favorite to keep his belt.

We’ve got our Ball vs Goodman prediction ready, plus all the details on how to watch the fight and what else is on this stacked Saudi card.

Ball vs Goodman Prediction

Goodman is making the jump from super bantamweight (122 lbs) after a derailed title shot against Naoya Inoue, thanks to two nasty cuts. The Australian’s still unbeaten at 20-0, but this is a whole different challenge at a new weight.

Ball fights like he’s got somewhere else to be. The 28-year-old throws punches in bunches — 67.8 per round compared to the featherweight average of 55.5. He broke down former champions TJ Doheny and Ronnie Rios in his last two fights, both stopping them in round 10.

Here’s the problem for Goodman: he’s only got eight knockouts in 20 fights. That 40% knockout rate won’t keep Ball honest. Without the power to earn respect, Goodman’s going to spend all night dealing with a guy who never stops coming forward.

To his credit, Goodman has a slick jab, solid footwork, and good timing on counters. But Ball’s cardio is something else. He weaponizes his fitness, breaking guys down when they start breathing heavy in the later rounds. Four of Ball’s last five knockouts came after round 8.

The Australian will have his moments early, using his 4-inch height advantage and movement to win some rounds. But once Ball finds his rhythm and starts walking through those jabs, it’s going to get rough. I predict Ball stopping Goodman between rounds 9-12.

Ball vs Goodman Odds

FighterMoneylineMethod of Victory
Nick Ball-450By KO/TKO -110
Sam Goodman+300By KO/TKO +1200

The Ball vs Goodman odds at BetMGM paint a clear picture. Ball at -450 means the books give him about an 82% chance of winning. That’s what happens when a proven champion fights a guy who is moving up in weight for his first chance at a world title

Oddsmakers clearly think Ball finishes this one, as his KO/TKO line is almost even money at -110. If you think Goodman’s tough enough to last all 12, Ball by decision is priced at +200.

Want a longshot? Goodman by KO pays +1200, but with just eight career knockouts against lesser competition, that’s more lottery ticket than smart bet. The draw’s at +1600 if you’re feeling really adventurous.

Ball vs Goodman Tale of the Tape

Ball

Goodman

22-0-1 Record 20-0
13 Knockouts 8
28 Age 26
59% KO% 40%
5’2″ Height 5’6.5″

The numbers tell you what you need to know. Ball’s got the power edge with a 59% knockout rate compared to Goodman’s 40%. That’s going to matter when Ball starts pressing forward and Goodman can’t make him think twice.

Ball’s made a career out of beating taller guys. He actually prefers it, saying smaller fighters are “harder to hit, less of a target.”

Both guys are in their prime, with Ball at 28 having more championship experience, while Goodman at 26 is taking his first crack at a world title after moving up from super bantamweight.

Ball vs Goodman Undercard

The main event features rising heavyweight star Moses Itauma (11-0, 9 KOs) against veteran Dillian Whyte (31-3, 21 KOs). Itauma’s been knocking everyone out and looks like the next big thing at heavyweight.

Other fights worth your time:

  • Raymond Ford vs. Abraham Nova – Super Featherweight
  • Filip Hrgovic vs. David Adeleye – Heavyweight
  • Hayato Tsutsumi vs. Qais Ashfaq – Super Featherweight

Ford’s looking to bounce back from his loss to Ball earlier this year, while Hrgovic needs a win after getting stopped by Daniel Dubois in his last fight.

Winner here could be looking at a massive payday against Naoya Inoue if the Japanese star moves up to featherweight. For Goodman, it might be his only shot at that fight after the cuts ruined his chances at 122. For Ball, it’s another step toward unification fights and bigger money.
