O’Shaquie Foster Defending His WBC Belt

Foster’s last outing was a WBC title bout against Alberto Mercado where he won via unanimous decision in December of last year.

On the heels of his first WBC championship defense, he is presumably looking to make his sophomore defense another one for the highlight reel.

Foster was a 2012 Olympic alternate and was an eight-time amateur champion prior to crossing over into the professional ranks.

Thursday night marks his 20th pro fight, and Foster seems to be really putting it all together at this stage in his development.

Miguel Roman Covets WBC Hardware

Miguel Roman has competed all the way from super-bantamweight up to lightweight. He has challenged for world championships in multiple weight categories.

Roman is a well-traveled veteran of 75 pro bouts who holds a pair of WBC belts heading into this outing. Miguel Roman captured the vacant Latino super featherweight belt, retained his FECARBOX divisional hardware in his latest bout, and now looks to add the WBC silver belt to his collection.

Miguel Roman is entering this contest after back-to-back unanimous decision wins, but is a brick fisted individual with close to fifty stoppage wins overall.

These 130 pounders are at a crossroads moment in their respective careers.

Roman is the veteran looking to put together one final run towards the WBC super featherweight gold. He tried to capture it from Miguel Berchelt in November 2018 but lost.

For Foster, he is a 27-year-old surging pugilist on a seven-fight win streak and is hungry for his first crack at the WBC undisputed world title.

This main event is slated for ten rounds, and I foresee it going the distance.

Roman has only been stopped three times across his thirteen career defeats. I think O’Shaquie Foster secures the decision victory when Foster vs Roman takes place.

Pick: O’Shaquie Foster (-270)

Main Card Picks for Foster vs Roman

  1. William Zepeda vs Roberto Ramirez: Zepeda is an unbeaten southpaw who is coming off of a sixth-round TKO victory in his last outing over Brayam Rico. Ramirez is a lightweight that is riding a ten fight win streak heading into this one. Considering the 19 stoppage wins across his 21 wins, I see Zepeda scoring the stoppage in this one. It will most likely come between the sixth and eighth rounds, in my estimation. Pick: William Zepeda (-375)
