Murdock and Parker vie for the vacant WBO intercontinental super middleweight championship in Manchester on Saturday night in England.

This fight represents one of the highest level matches you can make among top dogs at 168 pound. Both men have faced a comparable level of competition, both are looking to jettison towards that world title level, and are looking to impress.

Zach Parker vs Rohan Murdock Odds

Fighter Odds
Zach Parker -340
Rohan Murdock +260

Odds taken Mar 4th

Parker has a spotless record but the super middleweight is looking to have his most impressive career campaign through 2020. He has his eyes on Billy Joe Saunders for a fight later on in the calendar year. Saunders holds the WBO world title so the winner of this comparatively minor WBO will be positioned next in line for a shot at the full undisputed belt.

Things could also play out where a Canelo vs Saunders fight happens and Parker could find himself opposite, arguably, the sport’s biggest box office draw.

WBO 168 Pound Gold

Parker won the British super-middleweight title over Darryll Williams via split decision in November 2018. Since then, he has only taken a tune-up fight over 8-4 pugilist Steven Crambert in Spring 2019.

Murdock has been even less active having not competed a single time in 2019. The WBO Oriental super middleweight champion is heading into this fight on a twenty-two fight win streak despite the lengthy hiatus. It will be interesting to see if either man or even both of them have ring rust in this outing after pronounced layoffs.

For this particular WBO championship fight, Parker has the edge in terms of strength of schedule. Both have impressive enough resumes but I slightly give the nod to Zach Parker.

This marks only the second time for Murdock to be fighting outside his native Australia and it is his first prizefight in the UK. The pride of Derbyshire has fought all but two of his fights in the United Kingdom and will surely receive a partisan reaction as he once again competes there.

I can see this bout going the full duration with the story of the fight unfurling over ten rounds. I see this as a unanimous decision victory for Zach Parker.

Pick: Zach Parker (-340)
