Hollywood Casino Online To Remain As PENN Ends ESPN Bet in December

Big news broke in the online sports betting world on Thursday morning, but it doesn’t appear it will have too much impact on a major online casino brand.

PENN Entertainment announced an early termination of its 10-year partnership with ESPN, putting an end to ESPN Bet starting Dec. 1 in states where the online sportsbook exists.

Underperformance of ESPN Bet Leads to Split

Thursday was surprising news considering that PENN Entertainment and ESPN were just two years into a 10-year partnership.

However, both companies had the option to terminate the agreement after its third year if key market share performance thresholds were not met.

ESPN Bet struggled to find itself in the top of the US online sports betting market, hitting a market share nationwide that was below 5%.

This partnership coming apart follows PENN’s unsuccessful partnership with Bartstool Sports, which ended in 2023 as PENN made the move to ESPN.

While PENN now moves on to theScore Bet, ESPN announced a new media partnership with DraftKings, which will provide official odds to the sports network moving forward.

PENN Standing By Hollywood Casino

Despite the changes to its online sportsbook, PENN Entertainment will be holding firm with its standalone online casino, Hollywood Casino.

In a press release on the changes, CEO and President of PENN Entertainment Jay Snowden said:

Our OSB offerings will continue to provide top of funnel acquisition and cross-sell opportunities for our Hollywood-branded iCasino, which will remain integrated into our OSB product in states where legal, in addition to serving as a standalone iCasino app.”

Hollywood Casino’s standalone online casino app is available currently in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Snowden noted that iCasino business improved 40% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2025, hitting its highest quarterly revenue mark to date.
