PokerStars has ended its online poker and online casino operations in the US, shifting its name over to FanDuel.
On Wednesday, April 1, FanDuel announced the launch of “PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel” as the iGaming power is now able to offer multi-state poker between Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
PokerStars customers that open their app will get a message directing them to FanDuel Casino.
FanDuel Gets Into Online Poker Market
While online casinos are legal in seven states, few operators have gotten into online poker. BetMGM, bet365, and World Series of Poker are some of the notable brands.
Now, FanDuel is getting into the mix through this new partnership with PokerStars, which was also amongst the most recognized online poker brands.
“The launch of PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel brings together two of the most iconic names in gaming and represents a major step forward for online poker in North America,” Aaron Dugan, General Manager of PokerStars at FanDuel, said in a press release. “By combining PokerStars’ industry-leading poker experience with FanDuel’s scale and reach, we’re able to deliver bigger games, larger prize pools and a more dynamic experience. We look forward to welcoming players to the tables.”
PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel will be available in three major iGaming markets of Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. All three are members of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), which allows for play across state borders to create larger online tournaments and larger payout pools.
PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel will also be available in the Ontario market later in 2026.
This new poker branch of FanDuel will feature a dedicated poker app and desktop site.
Introductory Events Scheduled by FanDuel
As part of the celebration of the launch of this new FanDuel product, players in the three states will be able to participate in specially created poker events.
There will be two $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Million tournaments taking place in the coming weeks.
A $150,000 guaranteed “No Sweat” series will also be included, along with a full schedule of tournaments and cash games for plays of any and all levels.
PokerStars Casino Ends Operations
This latest news creates multiple ripples in major iGaming markets beyond a new poker app launching.
PokerStars ending its online casino operations leaves an open iGaming license in Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
While not a major change in the revenue production for each state, as PokerStars ranked near the bottom when it came to iGaming revenue, it does create the potential for a new operator launch in each state.
Given the millions and millions each operator has been able to produce monthly in these states, these licenses have to be an attractive option for any online casino not operating in those states.
For PokerStars customers, the operator indicates that they have until April 30 to withdrawal any remaining funds from their account.
