We have officially reached the College World Series, and four of the eight teams are in action on Friday to kick off the tournament.

Coastal Carolina takes on Arizona after both teams pulled off the upset in the super regionals. Later in the day, Oregon State plays Louisville after the Beavs knocked out Florida State in Game 3 of the Corvallis super regionals.

Coastal Carolina has the best College World Series odds out of the teams playing on Friday.

College Baseball Pick #1: Coastal Carolina -1.5 vs Arizona

It only feels right that we kick off the 2025 College World Series with a rematch of the 2016 CWS Championship. Coastal Carolina won that one, and I predict that they will win on Friday afternoon by a margin.

Arizona has been hot, winning the Big 12 Tournament and ten of their last 11 games, but Coastal Carolina is hotter. The Chanticleers have won an absurd 23 straight games en route to Omaha.

Cameron Flukey will likely be on the mound for Coastal Carolina, and he has had a good postseason. He struck out nine batters through seven innings in the regionals against Fairfield. Then he pitched five innings, allowed three runs, and struck out four against a loaded Auburn lineup in the super regionals.

Owen Kramkowski will likely start for the Wildcats, and he just got blown up in his last start vs North Carolina, allowing eight earned runs through 1.1 innings.

Coastal Carolina’s lineup should be able to get to Kramkowski early, and then Arizona will have to turn to its struggling bullpen.

I believe Coastal’s pitching will be too much in this first game, and they should win comfortably in Game 1.

College Baseball Pick #2: Oregon State -1.5 vs Louisville

Oregon State enters the College World Series going 13-2-1 in their last 16 games behind their offense. Their lineup is led by Aiva Arquette and Gavin Turley. Arquette has a .354 batting average and 18 home runs on the season, while Turley is batting .346 with 19 home runs.

Louisville’s pitching has been great in the postseason, but they have not seen a lineup with as much firepower as Oregon State.

The Cardinals have a deep lineup, but they have not put up a lot of runs in the NCAA Tournament. I give the edge to Oregon State’s lineup to win by at least two runs.

College Baseball Pick #3: Louisville/Oregon State Under 10

While I like Oregon State to win, I also like the under in this game. Dax Whitney and Patrick Forbes are the projected starters, and both are dynamic strikeout throwers. Forbes is ranked 13th in the country in K/9, and Whitney is 15th.

Both bullpens are also strong and should limit the runs in a pitcher’s ballpark in Omaha. The Cardinals are averaging just over 5 runs per game in the NCAA Tournament, and Whitney will be one of, if not the best, pitchers they have seen so far. I am not expecting a lot of runs at Charles Schwab on Friday night.

College World Series Pick: Coastal Carolina (+600)

I am picking Coastal Carolina to win the College World Series and believe they are a great value at +600 odds.

Not only have the Chanticleers won 23 straight games, but they have the second-best team ERA and the fifth-best bullpen ERA in the country.

Pitching depth is important in the College World Series because it is a two-week grind of games. Sometimes managers have to play guys on short rest to avoid elimination. Coastal has the flexibility with its pitching staff that most teams do not. Charles Schwab Field is also a pitcher’s ballpark where last year teams averaged just 5.7 runs per game.

Coastal Carolina is a well-disciplined team that does not make mistakes in the field and ranked first in the Sun Belt in fielding percentage. They back up their strong pitching very well.

It is not like the Chanticleers cannot score runs either. They beat East Carolina 18-7 in regionals and defeated Auburn, a team that swept LSU in the regular season, 7-6. They are 33rd in the nation in runs scored but are 107th in home runs hit. That plays well in Omaha, where you need to manufacture runs and not rely on home runs. Coastal led the Sun Belt in steals this year.

Perhaps the best part about this wager is that Coastal avoids LSU and Arkansas until a potential championship series. They have the path to get to the finals and believe they can do it behind their pitching.

Coastal Carolina won it all in 2016, the last time they reached the College World Series, so why can’t they do it again in 2025?
