With traditional college basketball powers like North Carolina, Duke and Virginia in the same conference, most wouldn’t have expected Miami (12-1, 7-6 ATS) to be first in the Atlantic Coast Conference at this point in the season, but that’s where we stand as the calendar gets set to flip to a new year.
On Friday, December 30th, the Hurricanes will battle the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-5, 3-10 ATS) at the Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana for a 2:00 pm ET matinee affair. Riding an eight-game win streak, Miami is a 2.5-point road favorite in Friday’s college basketball odds.
Below, we provide the Miami vs Notre Dame odds while breaking down the head-to-head matchup between these conference foes and offering you our pick and prediction for this contest.

Despite owning one of the best records in college ball, the Hurricanes are only the 41st ranked team according to KenPom. Five other ACC squads are ahead of them in the rankings, even though Miami are in first place in the conference.

Miami Making Money on Moneyline Bets
Not only does Miami have a great record to start the year, they’ve also been a bettors dream if you’ve been picking them in your bets on the moneyline. With a 34.73% return on investment, they’re generating the third best rate of return of any team in college ball so far.
The Hurricanes are still getting minimal love in the odds to win the NCAA tournament, with multiple conference opponents garnering shorter odds than Miami.
While they bring a few solid subs off the bench, the Canes deploy a heavy six-man unit with each player averaging at least 20 minutes per outing and four guys scoring at least 10 points per game. Junior guard, Isaiah Wong paces this outfit with 17.2 points per contest, making good on 46.7% from the field and 37.7% beyond the arc.

Offense has been key to this squad’s success as their adjusted offensive efficiency of 114.1 ranks 14th in the nation according to KenPom. On the other end, they somewhat struggle with an adjusted defensive efficiency of 98.9 placing them 103rd in the nation.
Notre Dame Betting Analysis
Even with a terrible shooting performance, Notre Dame was able to emerge victorious in their first game after the holiday break with a 59-43 win against Jacksonville. The Fighting Irish shot just 40.3% from the field in that game, but were able to hold Jacksonville to just 17 field goals and 34.7% shooting.
It was a welcome win for a Notre Dame team that was on a three game losing streak. You can bet, they didn’t want to face the top squad in the conference having lost four in a row, so that win should give them a bit of a confidence boost.
Based on their records and performances so far this year, Miami have been appropriately handicapped as the chalk against the Irish in this one, but Notre Dame has take the least four matchups between these two. In addition, they were the underdogs in two of those four games, but still came out on top.

As usual, Coach Mike Brey’s squad plays a smart structured game on offense. This isn’t a high tempo team, but they are effective scoring the ball. They’re adjusted tempo of 64.2 ranks 341st in the nation according to KenPom, but they play smart and rarely turn over the ball.
In fact, the Fighting Irish are second in the nation with just 8.5 turnovers per game. At 109.8, they’re adjusted offensive efficiency ranks 43rd in Division I according to KenPom.

The Irish rely heavily on their five starters who all average at least 32 minutes of court time per outing. It’s also a collaborative unit, with all five starters scoring at least 10 points per game and all shooting over 40% from the floor.
Miami vs Notre Dame Pick & Prediction
Notre Dame should be more prepared having played once since Christmas, while this will be the Hurricanes first taste of action in 10 days. That’s a long stint between games.
Although the Irish have the edge in recent outings, this would be a pretty huge upset given the state of both these teams this season.
Our best prediction in this contest is to bet the over. These squads own two of the best offenses in the nation, although they get it done in different ways. Combining for over 144.5 in the Miami vs Notre Dame odds is the pick that makes the most betting sense in this Friday afternoon ACC matchup, so bet on buckets.
