Nebraska vs Iowa Predictions and Picks

The Pick: Nebraska Moneyline (-126 at FanDuel)

The Pick: Under 131.5 Total Points (-105 at DraftKings)

When evaluating the college basketball odds, the line movement tells a compelling story. Oddsmakers opened Nebraska as a -2.5 point favorite, but early action pushed the number down to a tight -1.5. The moneyline has also dipped to a much more approachable -130. In a neutral-site tournament setting where late-game intentional fouling easily creates backdoor cover scenarios for the trailing team, bypassing the point spread is my preferred angle. I am backing the Cornhuskers on the moneyline.

In the first two outings, Nebraska has won 76-47 against Troy, then escaped Vanderbilt 74-72 in the second round. Iowa, meanwhile, defeated Clemson 67-61, then took down defending champion Florida 73-72.

How to Watch Nebraska vs Iowa

The 4th seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers (28-6, 15-5 Big Ten) take on 9th seeded Iowa Hawkeyes (23-12, 10-10 Big Ten) with a berth in the elite 8 on the line. The Cornhuskers finished a stellar second in the conference standings, earning their status as the betting favorite, while the underdog Hawkeyes squad landed in ninth place.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 26, from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, with broadcast coverage natively on TBS and truTV and TSN in Canada.

Cornhuskers vs Hawkeyes Team Stats Comparison

Looking at the metrics, Nebraska boasts an elite .824 win percentage compared to Iowa’s mediocre 10-10 conference mark. They know how to close out games, evidenced by their superior +11.3 average point differential.

CategoryNebraskaIowa
Overall Record28-623-12

Points Scored Per Game77.274.9
Points Allowed Per Game65.866.0
Average Point Differential+11.3+8.9
Last 10 Games7-35-5

Pivoting to the total, I am grabbing the Under 131.5 (-105). Both programs rely heavily on stifling team defense, with Nebraska allowing just 65.8 points per game and Iowa right on their heels giving up only 66.0.

My Same Game Parlay Suggestion (+240 at Caesars)

  • Leg 1: Nebraska Moneyline (-126)
  • Leg 2: Full Game Under 131.5 (-105)
  • Leg 3: 1st Half Under 61 (-115)

Nebraska vs Iowa Betting Splits

Moneyline: For the outright winner in college basketball public betting, Nebraska commands 57.95% of the overall betting tickets, but they are drawing a substantial 68.53% of the total stake. With the money percentage heavily outpacing the ticket count and both clearing the 50% mark, there is no true sharp vs public divide here—just solid, confident backing for the Cornhuskers on the moneyline.

Spread: Against the spread, Iowa has garnered 53.01% of the public’s tickets, yet the larger financial backing leans slightly toward Nebraska, who accounts for 51.44% of the ATS handle.

Total: The most dramatic split on the board comes on the game total. Bettors are heavily invested in a high-scoring track, pounding the Over with a massive 92.7% of the betting tickets and 78.95% of the overall stake. Despite this overwhelming consensus, I am firmly standing by my Under prediction. While the public clearly wants to root for buckets, line movement and public money do not equal value.

Nebraska vs Iowa Odds (Spread, Moneyline & Total)

  • Moneyline: Nebraska (-130) / Iowa (+110)
  • Point Spread: Nebraska -1.5 (-110) / Iowa +1.5 (-110)
  • Total (Over/Under): 131.5 (Over -110 / Under -110)

The betting lines for this matchup paint the picture of an incredibly tight affair. With Nebraska favored by just 1.5 points ATS, oddsmakers are essentially treating this battle as a near pick’em scenario. When stripping away the bookmaker’s vig to reveal the true implied probabilities, the Cornhuskers sits with a 54.27% normalized chance of advancing, while the Hawkeyes holds a 45.73% probability of pulling off the upset.

For bettors looking to get involved on the moneyline, your potential return depends significantly on which side you back. A standard $10 wager on Nebraska at -130 odds yields a total payout of $17.69 (a $7.69 profit). Placing that same $10 bet on Iowa at +110 odds would return a payout of $21.00 (an $11.00 profit) if they manage to extend their season.

Neither squad features as a favorite in the March Madness championship odds, with Nebraska +6500 and Iowa +12500 longshots.
