Round of 32 March Madness action continues tonight, as #3 Virginia (30-5, 17-4 ACC) squares off against #6 Tennessee (23-11, 12-8 SEC) in Midwest Region action.
The Cavaliers were far from dominant in their opening round matchup against Wright State, while the Vols annihilated Miami of Ohio. Recent form isn’t being overlooked by online sportsbooks in the latest college basketball odds, as they’re siding with the lower seeded Volunteers in this matchup.
Tip-off is set for 6:10 pm ET at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, in Philadelphia, PA, with TNT providing the broadcast coverage nationwide.

Tennessee vs Virginia Predictions and Best Bets
SPORTSBOOK
Virginia narrowly avoided another early exit in the printable March Madness bracket on Friday, thanks to Jacari White’s clutch 26-point bench performance. Meanwhile, Tennessee absolutely clobbered Miami behind Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s 29-point, 9 assist masterclass.
Tennessee vs Virginia Stats
I’m counting on the Vols recent form and their battle tested roster to send the Cavaliers home tonight. Virginia owns a sparkling .853 Adjusted Win Percentage, but they have severely struggled when stepping up in weight class.
The Cavaliers are an abysmal 1-3 straight up against Top 25 ranked teams this year. In contrast, Tennessee is 4-7 against Top 25 foes, going toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the March Madness championship odds during a grueling SEC schedule.
I am also hammering Over 137.5 points, banking on Tennessee’s offensive efficiency to continue. The Vols shot 53% from the field and 45% from three versus the RedHawks on Friday, building a 19-point first half lead and then cruising to victory.
Virginia meanwhile, showed they can score in bunches in a track meet with Wright State in the 1st Round, shooting 52% from the field themselves, and knocking down 13 triples.
Gillespie operates as the heart and soul of the Tennessee offense, boasting a massive 34.64% usage rate. He’s dished out 6+ assists in four of his past seven games, and I expect him to consistently spoon-feed easy looks to big men like J.P. Estrella and Felix Okpara in the paint.
On the Cavaliers side, White was an assassin from beyond the arc in the 1st Round, shooting 6-for-8 from deep, and he will get heavy volume trying to keep pace with Tennessee.
Tennessee vs Virginia Odds
As of Saturday evening, the best place to bet the Volunteers moneyline is at Bet365, who are offering -115 odds. The sportsbook is also offering the lowest spread on Tennessee -1, which is half a point less than the rest of the market.
Total-wise, you’re going to want to choose your sportsbook carefully. If you expect a high-scoring affair like me, BetMGM has the shortest odds on Over 137.5 at -105. If you’re on the other side, Bet365’s -110 odds on Under 137.5 is the best price in market.

Tennessee vs Virginia Betting Splits
Shifting gears to the college basketball public betting splits, where moneyline bettors are showing overwhelming confidence in the Vols. Tennessee commands 60% of the betting tickets and a robust 69% of the total handle.
The spread market presents a fascinating sharp vs public divide. While 55% of tickets are laying the points with Tennessee, a staggering 74% of the money is backing Virginia to cover the number. This massive financial weight indicates sharp bettors expect a tightly contested nail-biter.
Finally, the total market is entirely one-sided. The Over is attracting a massive 85% of the tickets and an overwhelming 91% of the cash. Both casuals and sharp bettors are dreaming of offensive fireworks, which explains why the number has gone up 2 points since opening odds were released.
