The USC Trojans need to bounce back after a horrible 2012 season, and facing Hawaii is the first challenge for them. The Trojans and the Warriors meet this Thursday at Aloha Stadium at 11 PM ET.
“The national championship, that’s where we wanted to go last year,” said reigning Biletnikoff Award winner Marqise Lee. “After we got our second loss and we could see we couldn’t make it, we kind of bugged out a little. This year, we’ve just got to stay focused on the games when we play them, and not start thinking about the national championship or anything else. It’s been a long time. I’ve been ready since the end of the bowl game. I’m ready to start it just like everybody else. That’s why I’ve been working so hard.”
The Trojans haven’t named a starter between Max Wittek and Cody Kessler at the quarterback position.
“They’ve both done so well, made so many plays,” head coach Lane Kiffin said. “It didn’t show itself that one guy was above the other guy, so we do it all the time with other positions. We’re not going to be stubborn and name a starter just because we’re supposed to. … We’ve got to do with all of our decisions what’s best for our team”.
Hawaii has covered the spread in the last two meetings against USC, but they lost the last five straight up.
The Trojans are listed 21.5 points favorites in the college football odds despite playing away from home.
