It should be a beautiful day in Provo with the weather forecast calling for sunny and a high of 77.

Arkansas Betting Outlook

Quarterback K.J. Jefferson is expected to play after missing last week’s game, which is why the line shifted so much in favor of Arkansas.

Jefferson has nine touchdown passes – good for fifth in the SEC — and only one interception this season while completing 66.1% of his 121 passes for 1,096 yards. He also has 312 yards and four scores on the ground in 81 attempts.

Malik Hornsby figures to be ready in a reserve role if needed after replacing ineffective Cade Fortin following the first two series in the loss to Mississippi State. Hornsby completed 8 of 17 passes for 234 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions and rushed for 114 yards on eight carries.

Fortin was pulled after going 2 of 6 for 8 yards.

Arkansas gained 463 total yards without Jefferson last week. However, Mississippi State rolled up 568 yards on a Razorbacks defense that is 113th of 131 FBS schools in points allowed (32.2) and 123rd in total yards allowed (454.5).

Raheim Sanders leads the SEC in rushing with 695 yards and five touchdowns on 125 carries. Jadon Haselwood is Arkansas’ top receiver with 27 catches for 364 yards and two TDs.

Last week, Sanders rushed for 86 yards and one TD on 20 attempts and Haselwood had three receptions for 113 yards.

Arkansas is 25th in total offense (462.7) but 75th in scoring offense (29.5).

BYU Betting Outlook

BYU quarterback Jaren Hall is less than 100% after getting banged up two weeks ago in a win over Utah State, according to coach Kalani Sitake. Hall was able to play last week in the loss to Notre Dame though.

While Sitake has declined to reveal the nature of the injury, Hall seemed to be favoring his right shoulder at times last week.

With Hall hurting, the BYU offense sputtered. Notre Dame held a 496-280 edge in total yardage and ran 73 plays to the Cougars’ 46. BYU was also 3 of 9 on third down while the Fighting Irish were 11 of 16.

Hall completed 9 of 17 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns, both going to Kody Epps. However, BYU fell behind 25-6 midway through third quarter and was unable to rally all the way back.

Through six games, Hall has connected on 68.6% of his 188 attempts for 1,558 yards and 14 TDs while being intercepted twice.

Epps had four receptions for 100 yards, raising his season totals to 25 and 298 with five touchdowns. Keanu Hill has 17 receptions for 334 yards and four scores.

Chris Brooks has 380 yards rushing and went for 90 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries last week.

Arkansas vs BYU Prediction

This will be the first meeting between the schools. Arkansas is 7-0 in non-conference games since Sam Pittman became coach in 2020. BYU is 4-6 against SEC teams.

Arkansas should get a lift with the return of Jefferson. However, this game means more to independent BYU to Arkansas, which must inconveniently go on the road in the middle of the SEC season.

The Pick: BYU ML (+105)
