Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier was benched after turning the ball over three times in the first quarter against Oregon State in the Broncos’ disappointing 34-17 season-opening defeat in Week 1. BSU head coach Andy Avalos inserted 6-6 redshirt freshman Taylen Green into the game, giving the visitors a spark. He missed a few open receivers and botched a couple of play calls — but he also looked like the fastest player on the field during a 74-yard touchdown run. It would figure Bachmeier will be back under center against the Lobos, but Avalos now knows what Green can do in game action — against a possible bowl team from a Power 5 conference no less. Look for Green, a Texas native, to get touches against the Lobos.
One injury that could have a small effect on the Bronco offense: receiver Austin Bolt is out for the season with a leg injury after getting hurt on a special teams play against the Beavers..
