TNT’s Ernie Johnson serves as celebrity guest picker. The six-time Sports Emmy winner and Georgia grad gets the call for what’s essentially a home game for the Dawgs. Johnson played baseball at Georgia and never shies away from showing his Bulldogs pride on *Inside the NBA*.
College GameDay Details
The show broadcasts from inside Hall C at the Dr. Pepper SEC FanFare, marking the fourth time in five years GameDay has been at the SEC Championship. While the Big Ten title game features two undefeated teams, the SEC showdown carries more weight for the playoff bracket.

Week 14 College GameDay Results
Week 14 saw Nick Saban show why he’s the GOAT, finishing 7-2 on Rivalry Week. Turns out coaching for decades gives you some insight into how games play out. Celebrity guest picker Aidan Hutchinson and Desmond Howard both landed at 6-3, while Kirk Herbstreit went 5-3. Pat McAfee brought up the rear at 5-4.
The crew nailed several unanimous picks: Oregon over Washington and Virginia over Virginia Tech both hit. They went 4/5 on Miami beating Pittsburgh and Florida beating Florida State. Alabama’s Iron Bowl triumph was nearly unanimous at 4/4 (Herbstreit didn’t pick that game).
Only McAfee and Hutchinson correctly called Vanderbilt’s 45-24 upset of Tennessee—everyone else got torched by Diego Pavia. Howard and Herbstreit backed Clemson but watched South Carolina win 17-14. The biggest split came on “The Game” where Saban, McAfee, and Herbstreit correctly picked Ohio State’s 27-9 win, while Howard and Hutchinson stayed loyal to Michigan.
Friday’s Championship Results
Friday night delivered three championship games with major playoff implications. James Madison crushed Troy 31-14 behind Wayne Knight’s 212 rushing yards. The Dukes’ defense was absolutely stifling, holding Troy to negative 26 rushing yards.
Tulane punched their playoff ticket with a 34-21 win over North Texas, though controversy surrounded several key calls. Boise State made it three straight Mountain West titles, beating UNLV 38-21 behind Maddux Madsen’s four-touchdown performance.
No. 3 Georgia vs No. 9 Alabama – SEC Championship
Kickoff: 4:00 PM ET on ABC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Georgia (11-1) comes in ranked No. 3 and sitting pretty for a first-round bye, but this is about revenge. Alabama handed the Dawgs their only loss of the season back on September 27 in Athens, a 24-21 heartbreaker. Ty Simpson carved up the Georgia defense for 276 yards and two touchdowns that day.
The Crimson Tide (10-2) are the ones with everything to lose. Sitting at No. 9, they’re the first team out of the playoff picture. A win punches their ticket and potentially vaults them into bye contention. A loss gives them three defeats and leaves their fate in the committee’s hands.
Georgia’s Gunnar Stockton needs a bounce-back after posting 11/21 for 70 yards against Georgia Tech. Nate Frazier has 809 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. If Georgia can establish the run, they control the clock and keep Alabama’s offense off the field.
- Pick: Georgia -2 (-110)
Other Championship Games
No. 1 Ohio State vs No. 2 Indiana – Big Ten Championship
Line: Ohio State -4 | Total: 46.5 | Kickoff: 8:00 PM ET on FOX
The committee threw everyone a curveball by ranking Indiana No. 2 and Ohio State No. 1, setting up a de facto playoff quarterfinal. Both teams are undefeated. The winner likely secures the No. 1 overall seed. The loser drops to the 5-8 range and loses that precious first-round bye.
Julian Sayin threw three touchdowns in the win over Michigan. Indiana’s defense has been elite all year. This should be a defensive battle in the dome.
- Pick: Ohio State -4 (-110)
No. 5 Texas Tech vs No. 11 BYU – Big 12 Championship
Line: Texas Tech -12.5 | Total: 49.5 | Kickoff: Noon ET on ABC
Texas Tech is ranked No. 5 and should be safe regardless, but BYU at No. 11 is the first team out of the playoff picture. The Cougars need this win to secure an automatic bid. Texas Tech already beat BYU 29-7 on November 8, so this is a revenge spot for the Cougars.
The Red Raiders just posted a 49-0 shutout of West Virginia. BYU’s 92.3% red zone efficiency and +10 turnover differential give them a puncher’s chance.
- Pick: BYU +12.5 (-110)
No. 17 Virginia vs Duke – ACC Championship
Line: Virginia -4 | Total: 57.5 | Kickoff: 8:00 PM ET on ABC
Virginia (11-1) is looking to lock up an automatic bid, while Duke aims to play spoiler. These two met on November 15 in Durham, with Virginia winning 34-17. The Cavaliers convert 49.2% on third down compared to Duke’s 39.6%.
Weather could be a factor with mist and 6 mph winds forecasted in Charlotte. That favors Virginia’s more balanced attack.
- Pick: Virginia -4 (-110)
Miami (OH) vs Western Michigan – MAC Championship
Line: Western Michigan -1.5 | Total: 43.5 | Kickoff: Noon ET on ESPN
The MAC title game features two evenly matched teams. Miami (OH) is 7-5 while Western Michigan is 8-4. This one could come down to turnovers and special teams in Ford Field.
- Pick: Miami (OH) +1.5 (-110)
