Colorado vs Utah Player Prop #1: Kaidon Salter Passing Yards
Buffaloes quarterback Kaidon Salter has cleared 175 passing yards in three of his last four games. With a 64% passing completion percentage and 8.4 yards per completion against conference foes, this seems like the perfect spot to bet on Salter’s over, especially with Colorado likely to trail as 14.5-point underdogs.
However, the Utah secondary is no joke. In fact, the Utes have limited opposing passers to 155 yards per game this season, and have yet to allow more than 170 passing yards in a game this season. Utah loves to blitz, which forces quick throws into tight windows, and is exactly where Salter struggles.
Additionally, the Utes defense is already up to 18 sacks and six interceptions on the year, so expect to see Utah hurry and harass Salter into mistakes on Saturday night.
- Pick: Kaidon Salter under 174.5 passing yards (-114)
Colorado vs Utah Player Prop #2: Wayshawn Parker Rushing Yards
Utes running back Wayshawn Parker has cleared 44.5 rushing yards in nine of his last 11 games, while averaging 58.8 per contest. Utah excels at rushing the football, averaging 5.6 yards per carry and a whopping 240 yards per game, which ranks sixth in the country.
Parker will have no problem clearing this line against a Buffaloes front that allows 4.7 yards per carry, and 188 rushing yards per game. With Utah likely to lead for large chunks of this matchup, Parker will have plenty of opportunities to tote the rock.
The sophomore sensation is averaging six yards per carry on the year and will be dashing through Colorado defenders in Week 9. Expect Parker to bounce back after a tough game against BYU last week.
- Pick: Wayshawn Parker over 44.5 rushing yards (-114)
Colorado vs Utah Same-Game Parlay
Utah’s defense is a machine, sitting in the top-10 nationally in points and passing yardage allowed. The Utes front seven sits 13th with an 8.8% sack percentage, and should have no problem getting after Kaidon Salter. Look for the Utah defensive line to feast and their dominant rushing attack to control the clock, leading to the under 48.5 total points.
From there, the three-score spread is a little high for my liking, but the Utes are a far more complete squad than the Buffaloes. Utah is 8-2 SU in their last 10 matchups between these familiar foes, and are 5-2 ATS in their last seven in the series as the favorites. I like the Utah front seven to control this game, and paired with the Utes efficient offense, should easily cover a two-score spread.
Finally, Parker has three touchdowns on the year and figures to get the bulk of the carries against a vulnerable Colorado defensive front. The Buffaloes are allowing opponents to score on over 80% of red zone trips, and have given up four rushing scores in their past three games.
