Even though they haven’t beaten Georgia on the field in the last seven tries, Georgia Tech has won the last three games against the spread. Four of the last six meetings also hit the over, including that 44-42 epic last season.

Georgia has been favored in every game it has played this season, but this is the most points they’re laying since the Kentucky game when they were laying 20. They won by 21.

Don’t be surprised if both schools do some scoreboard watching Saturday. Georgia is No. 4 in the AP Poll, but may not even make the SEC Championship Game. They only get in if Bama or Texas A&M lose (definite maybe).

Georgia Tech blew a shot at the ACC Championship Game when it lost last week to Pitt. They can still get in if Virginia loses to Va. Tech and SMU loses to California (definitely not happening).

Yellow Jackets QB Haynes King is second in the nation in total offense at 339 yards a game, but he threw two bad interceptions against Pitt. He should still be in the Heisman conversation.

Georgia has won seven in a row since the three-point loss to Bama. They had a breather last week, beating Charlotte 35-3.

At this point in the week, my early Georgia vs Georgia Tech pick is Georgia Tech and all those points. I think Georgia can—and will—win, but I believe this one will be close. Georgia Tech will have revenge on their minds, and Georgia really may not have much to play for. Their fate is tied to the other SEC games.

Last year, King threw for 303, but had a fumble with three minutes left that opened the door for the Bulldogs’ comeback and multiple overtimes. The Yellow Jackets have four receivers with over 300 yards through the air.

Georgia QB Gunner Stockton has thrown for 19 touchdowns and run for eight more (although Auburn fans will disagree). The Georgia defense is tied for 12th in the nation, allowing 17.4 points a game, but they don’t have many stars. I like King to keep it close, though. I like taking the best QB at a neutral site with all those points.
