Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes returns to his alma mater as celebrity guest picker, taking advantage of the Chiefs’ bye week. The three-time Super Bowl champion threw for 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns during his time at Texas Tech from 2014-16 in the college football odds.

Week 10 saw guest picker Alex Smith lead the way alongside Saban and McAfee with 5-3 records. Herbstreit struggled with a 3-4 performance while Howard went .500. The crew had mixed success with several upsets shaking up the weekend.

Kirk Herbstreit correctly predicted this week’s scenario during last week’s show, saying if Texas Tech won to set up the GameDay visit, Mahomes might be available as guest picker. His prediction proved spot on.

Weather conditions are perfect for football with clear skies expected. Texas Tech’s defense ranks fifth nationally in points allowed (13.2) and hasn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher all season. BYU’s LJ Martin leads the Big 12 with 789 rushing yards and faces his toughest test yet.

True freshman Bear Bachmeier has been remarkable for BYU, throwing for 1,693 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 408 rushing yards. The Red Raiders’ David Bailey leads the nation with 11.5 sacks. Texas Tech has invested $28 million in NIL for their football roster, second only to Texas nationally.

  • Pick: Texas Tech -10.5 (-110)

No. 2 Indiana at Penn State

Line: Indiana -14.5 | Total: 51.5 | Kickoff: 12:00 PM ET on FOX

The undefeated Hoosiers (9-0) seek their first-ever win at Beaver Stadium. Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza has thrown for 2,124 yards and 25 touchdowns with just four interceptions. ESPN projects him as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Penn State (3-5) has dropped five straight after firing head coach James Franklin. The Nittany Lions haven’t beaten Indiana in 28 tries (2-25 all-time). Starting quarterback Drew Allar’s injury has forced redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer into action.

  • Pick: Indiana -14.5 (-110)

No. 4 Alabama vs LSU

Line: Alabama -10.5 | Total: 58.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on ABC

LSU plays its first game under interim coach Frank Wilson after firing Brian Kelly following a 49-25 loss to Texas A&M. Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson has been exceptional with a 20-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

The Crimson Tide have won seven straight and rank fourth in the first playoff rankings. LSU hasn’t won at Bryant-Denny Stadium since their 2019 national championship season. The Tigers need this win to avoid their third straight loss.

  • Pick: Alabama -10.5 (-110)

No. 3 Texas A&M at No. 22 Missouri

Line: Texas A&M -7.5 | Total: 48.5 | Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on ABC

The undefeated Aggies (8-0) face their third straight road game against a ranked opponent. Marcel Reed has climbed to fourth-best Heisman odds after his dominant performance against LSU with four total touchdowns.

Missouri starts true freshman Matt Zollers after losing starter Beau Pribula to injury. Ahmad Hardy leads the SEC with 937 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. The Aggies’ offensive line has allowed just 21 tackles for loss, fewest in the country.

  • Pick: Texas A&M -7.5 (-110)

No. 9 Oregon at No. 20 Iowa

Line: Oregon -6.5 | Total: 41.5 | Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on CBS

The Ducks ride a 10-game road winning streak into Kinnick Stadium. Iowa’s defense ranks second nationally in yards allowed (234.9) and sixth in points allowed (13.1). Weather could be a major factor with 80% chance of rain and possible snow.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore returns after taking a hit to the face two weeks ago. The Ducks’ only loss came at home to now-No. 2 Indiana in double overtime. Kinnick Stadium has a reputation as one of college football’s toughest venues.

  • Pick: Iowa +6.5 (-110)

No. 1 Ohio State at Purdue

Line: Ohio State -29.5 | Total: 52.5 | Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET on Big Ten Network

The top-ranked Buckeyes visit Ross-Ade Stadium, where Purdue has historically given them trouble. But the Boilermakers (2-7) are on a seven-game losing streak and haven’t won a conference game since 2023.

Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin has a 20-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio with an 80.7% completion rate. The Buckeyes defense allows just 6.9 points per game and ranks first nationally in red zone defense.

  • Pick: Ohio State -29.5 (-110)
