College GameDay rolls into Lubbock for just the second time in program history. The show sets up at Texas Tech University as the No. 9 Red Raiders host No. 8 BYU in the first top-10 Big 12 matchup since the 2021 conference championship game.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes returns to his alma mater as celebrity guest picker, taking advantage of the Chiefs’ bye week. The three-time Super Bowl champion threw for 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns during his time at Texas Tech from 2014-16 in the college football odds.
College GameDay Details
The pit opens at 6:30 AM ET for fans looking to get prime spots. The last time GameDay visited Lubbock in 2008, Michael Crabtree caught a last-second touchdown to upset No. 1 Texas 39-33.
Both teams enter with championship hopes alive. BYU sits at 8-0 and leads the Big 12, while Texas Tech is 8-1 with their only loss coming without starting quarterback Behren Morton. For BYU, this represents their first-ever top-10 matchup in program history.

Week 10 saw guest picker Alex Smith lead the way alongside Saban and McAfee with 5-3 records. Herbstreit struggled with a 3-4 performance while Howard went .500. The crew had mixed success with several upsets shaking up the weekend.
Kirk Herbstreit correctly predicted this week’s scenario during last week’s show, saying if Texas Tech won to set up the GameDay visit, Mahomes might be available as guest picker. His prediction proved spot on.
BYU vs Texas Tech Odds & Analysis

Weather conditions are perfect for football with clear skies expected. Texas Tech’s defense ranks fifth nationally in points allowed (13.2) and hasn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher all season. BYU’s LJ Martin leads the Big 12 with 789 rushing yards and faces his toughest test yet.
True freshman Bear Bachmeier has been remarkable for BYU, throwing for 1,693 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 408 rushing yards. The Red Raiders’ David Bailey leads the nation with 11.5 sacks. Texas Tech has invested $28 million in NIL for their football roster, second only to Texas nationally.

The undefeated Hoosiers (9-0) seek their first-ever win at Beaver Stadium. Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza has thrown for 2,124 yards and 25 touchdowns with just four interceptions. ESPN projects him as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Penn State (3-5) has dropped five straight after firing head coach James Franklin. The Nittany Lions haven’t beaten Indiana in 28 tries (2-25 all-time). Starting quarterback Drew Allar’s injury has forced redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer into action.
- Pick: Indiana -14.5 (-110)
No. 4 Alabama vs LSU
Line: Alabama -10.5 | Total: 58.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on ABC
LSU plays its first game under interim coach Frank Wilson after firing Brian Kelly following a 49-25 loss to Texas A&M. Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson has been exceptional with a 20-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
The Crimson Tide have won seven straight and rank fourth in the first playoff rankings. LSU hasn’t won at Bryant-Denny Stadium since their 2019 national championship season. The Tigers need this win to avoid their third straight loss.

No. 1 Ohio State at Purdue
Line: Ohio State -29.5 | Total: 52.5 | Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET on Big Ten Network
