College GameDay returns to Pittsburgh for the first time in decades as the city hosts one of Week 12’s biggest matchups. The show sets up outside Acrisure Stadium as the No. 22 Panthers welcome No. 9 Notre Dame in a game that could shake up the playoff picture.

Pittsburgh legend Aaron Donald serves as celebrity guest picker, with his jersey retirement ceremony scheduled for halftime. The former Pitt defensive tackle won ACC Defensive Player of the Year before becoming one of the NFL’s most dominant interior linemen with the Los Angeles Rams.

The pit opens at 6:30 AM ET for fans looking to grab prime spots. This marks the first time GameDay has visited Pittsburgh for a Saturday game in decades. Tony Dorsett’s 50th anniversary tribute after his legendary 303-yard rushing performance against Notre Dame in 1975 adds another layer to this historic rivalry matchup.

Both teams enter hot. Notre Dame has won seven straight, all by double digits, after an 0-2 start. Pittsburgh has won five consecutive games and controls the destiny for four different schools in the College Football Playoff Bracket.

Pat McAfee led the way with an impressive 7-2 record in Week 11, while Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, and guest picker Patrick Mahomes finished at 6-3. Meanwhile, Kirk Herbstreit posted a 5-3 record.

Last weekend started rough for the GameDay crew when they all stepped on the same landmine. The entire desk loved Indiana to cover the 14.5-point spread against Penn State, and the Hoosiers promptly won by just three (27-24), sending everyone to 0-1 right out of the gate.

From there, things got better. They locked in on Oregon surviving Iowa 18-16, Georgia crushing Mississippi State, Texas A&M rolling Missouri, and Alabama handling LSU. The crew also nailed Texas Tech’s 29-7 beatdown of BYU, with Mahomes smartly backing his alma mater.

Herbstreit went bold calling for Iowa to upset Oregon on a last-second field goal. The Hawkeyes came within a whisker of making him look like a genius, but the Ducks held on for the two-point win. Only McAfee correctly picked Notre Dame to blow out Navy and cover the massive 28-point spread.

The SuperDog picks went 4-2, with Stanford Steve (Wake +6.5), Herbstreit (UConn +8.5), Saban (Stanford +7.5), and Rece Davis (Hawaii +6.5) all cashing. Howard’s BYU +11.5 got smoked by Texas Tech, and McAfee’s Arkansas State +4.5 couldn’t get it done against Southern Miss.

Notre Dame vs Pittsburgh Odds & Analysis

The weather forecast calls for clear conditions at kickoff. Notre Dame freshman quarterback CJ Carr has been phenomenal, throwing 19 touchdowns while ranking second among first-year signal callers. Potential top-10 draft pick Jeremiyah Love anchors the Irish ground game alongside Jadarian Price.

Pitt quarterback Mason Heintschel has thrown for over 1,500 yards with 12 touchdowns. The Panthers own one of the country’s better pass rushes and have won five straight after starting 2-2. This is the 74th meeting between these programs.

  • Pick: Pittsburgh +12.5 (-109)

No. 10 Texas at No. 5 Georgia

Line: Georgia -6.5 | Total: 49.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on ABC

The marquee SEC showdown features two playoff contenders in a rematch of last season’s SEC Championship Game, which Georgia won. A loss would pretty much eliminate the Longhorns from playoff contention. Texas is 0-2 against Georgia since joining the SEC.

Quarterback Arch Manning and the Texas passing attack need to exploit Georgia’s secondary. The Bulldogs have trailed in the first half in all five games they’ve been favored by a single possession this season. Georgia wants to pound the rock with three-tight-end sets and running back Nate Frazier.

  • Pick: Georgia -6.5 (-108)

No. 11 Oklahoma at No. 4 Alabama

Line: Alabama -5.5 | Total: 45.5 | Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on ABC

Both programs need this one bad. After a shocking season-opening loss to Florida State, Alabama has reeled off seven straight wins. Heisman candidate Ty Simpson leads one of the nation’s top passing offenses.

The undefeated Sooners (11-0) come off a bye week following their upset of Tennessee. Transfer quarterback John Mateer has 17 total touchdowns versus just two interceptions over his last six road games. Oklahoma owns the SEC’s best defense.

  • Pick: Alabama -5.5 (-115)

No. 2 Indiana vs Wisconsin

Line: Indiana -29.5 | Total: 48.5 | Kickoff: Noon ET on Big Ten Network

Coming off a last-second game-winning drive at Penn State, No. 2 Indiana (10-0) is chasing program history. Fernando Mendoza is right in the thick of the Heisman conversation. The Hoosiers have posted three 50-point performances in the last four weeks.

Wisconsin (3-6) endured back-to-back shutouts before finally beating Washington 13-10 last week. Despite playing the second-toughest schedule nationally, the Badgers have the worst offense in the Big Ten.

  • Pick: Indiana -29.5 (-110)

No. 15 Miami vs NC State

Line: Miami -14.5 | Total: 55.5 | Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on ESPN

Miami needs this one to stay in the playoff picture after falling outside the Top 12. Mario Cristobal’s teams always seem to struggle in November/December (12-13 record in those months). Quarterback Carson Beck has thrown just four touchdowns to six interceptions over the last four games.

The Wolfpack (5-4) are coming off their best game of the season—a 48-36 upset of No. 8 Georgia Tech. CJ Bailey has been on fire, throwing for over 1,000 yards with 10 touchdowns in his last four games.

  • Pick: NC State +14.5 (-110)

No. 7 Ole Miss vs Florida

Line: Ole Miss -15 | Total: 58.5 | Kickoff: 7:00 PM ET on ESPN

This game has major coaching drama. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is Florida’s top coaching target to replace the fired Billy Napier. This could be Kiffin’s last game at Ole Miss if the rumors are true.

A win would pretty much guarantee the Rebels (9-1) a playoff spot. The Gators (3-6) need this one to stay bowl eligible. They’ve won three straight in the series and have never lost to a Kiffin-coached team.

  • Pick: Ole Miss -15 (-110)

No. 1 Ohio State vs UCLA

Line: Ohio State -31.5 | Total: 52.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on NBC

The Buckeyes are going for their 1,000th program victory (including vacated wins). Ohio State (9-0) has the nation’s best defense, allowing just 211.6 yards per game. Quarterback Julian Sayin and star receiver Jeremiah Smith have the offense humming.

After starting 0-4 with losses to UNLV and New Mexico, UCLA fired head coach DeShaun Foster just 15 games into his tenure. Former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava transferred to UCLA and leads an inconsistent offense that ranks 104th nationally.

  • Pick: Ohio State -31.5 (-110)

Week 12 packs a punch with playoff implications across the board. Pittsburgh hosts GameDay for the first time in decades as Aaron Donald returns home. The SEC showdowns in Athens and Tuscaloosa will shake up the CFB playoff picture, while Indiana looks to keep their perfect season alive.
