  • Louisville battles Miami in a massive ACC Week 8 CFB clash
  • Miami is 10-0 SU in their last 10 home games
  • Dive into my Louisville vs Miami prediction, below

Two ACC rivals renew acquaintances on Friday night as Louisville takes on No.2 Miami. The Hurricanes are sitting pretty at 5-0, battling a 4-1 Cardinals squad that’s licking its wounds after their overtime loss to Virginia two weeks ago. Louisville vs Miami kicks off from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida on Friday, October 17th at 7:30 p.m. ET., tune in over on ESPN.

Get in on the CFB Week 8 betting action, and check out my Louisville vs Miami prediction below.

Louisville vs Miami Prediction

For my Louisville vs. Miami prediction, I’m backing the Hurricanes to win, but for the Cardinals to cover the two-touchdown spread. I recommend paying the extra juice to get those full 14 points if you’re book is offering 13.5

Louisville is no pushover. While Miami is tied for third in PFF’s overall grades, Louisville is tied for 14th. Plus, the Cardinals own the top defense in the country by total EPA allowed and are sixth in overall defensive success rate.

Jeff Brohm’s squad won’t be afraid of Miami. In fact, the Cardinals have won four of the last six matchups, including a 38-31 victory back in 2023.

Louisville lost a shootout 52-45 last year and has all the pieces to make this contest a game. I’m backing the Cardinal to contain Carson Beck and the Hurricanes’ passing attack and keep this one close.

Led by quarterback Miller Moss, the Louisville Cardinals boast an offense that scores over 32 points per game. Just like their former NFL quarterback of a head coach, this team loves to air it out. Louisville throws the ball on close to 60% of offensive snaps, leading to over 280 passing yards per game, good for 19th in the FBS.

Wide receiver Chris Bell has been the spark behind the Cardinals’ explosive offense. Bell exploded for 170 yards and two scores against Virginia and will be a big part of the game plan against Miami on Friday night.

That being said, the Cardinal truly shines on the less glamorous side of the field. Louisville leads the nation in EPA per play against the pass and are the top-ranked unit in total defensive EPA per play. The Cardinal allow just 22 points and 4.5 yards per play, while holding the opposition to a 66% touchdown percentage on red zone trips.

Don’t be afraid to back the underdog on the road, as the Cardinals are 5-1 SU in their last six road games.

The Hurricanes are rolling. This may not be the “U” of the 90s and early 2000s, but it’s the closest Miami has come in quite some time. Miami is outscoring opponents 175-68 through five games.

Carson Beck is slinging the rock, completing 72% of passes for 1,213 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Georgia transfer has shown a ton of poise, aided by a Miami offensive line that’s one of the best in the country.

On the flip side, Miami’s defense has been a brick wall, allowing just 16.3 points per game and 4.4 yards per play. The Canes’ front seven has been nightmare fuel for opposing quarterbacks.

Edge rushers Ahkeem Mesidor and Reuben Bain Jr are dominating the competition. The duo has combined for seven sacks and 40 hurries in just five games. Slowing down Miami’s pass-rush will be key if Louisville has any hope of pulling off the upset.

Keep in mind, the Hurricanes have covered the spread in four of five games to start the year, with the over hitting in 13 of their last 20 contests.

Miami are massive 13.5 point favorites over Louisville in the college football odds. The Louisville vs Miami total is sitting at 50.5, with the under favored at -115 and the over coming back at -105.
