Minnesota vs Oregon Prediction

  • Oregon 32, Minnesota 14

P.J. Fleck’s Golden Gophers are once again bowl-bound, the seventh straight non-COVID season they have reached eligibility. Undefeated at home, Minnesota has had massive issues on the road, losing all three games.

In Big Ten road games, they have been outscored 83-6, losing both games.

Freshman quarterback Drake Lindsey has had an up-and-down season. He has six games with multiple total touchdowns, leading Minnesota to a 6-0 record in those games. In the other three games, Minnesota has lost by an average of 30 points, and Lindsey has four of his six interceptions in such games.

Fame Ijeboi is coming off a 100-yard game in Minnesota’s win over Michigan State. He also tacked on a touchdown. He has had a solid effort on the season, averaging 48.0 yards per game and 4.7 yards per rush over eight games played.

Minnesota has a largely egalitarian passing offense. Eight different players have at least 10 catches. Lemeke Brockington is the closest Golden Gopher to being a No. 1 receiver, leading the team in receptions and yards.

His three receiving touchdowns are tied for the team lead with tight end Jameson Geers.

Anthony Smith is the Big Ten’s sack leader, pacing the conference with 8.5 sacks. He has 11.5 tackles for a loss. Smith has four different games with at least 1.5 sacks, including a 2.5-sack game versus Nebraska.

The Ducks are in a prime position to make the College Football Playoff for the second year in a row and third time in school history. While they had a hiccup loss at home versus Indiana, the task is simple for Oregon: beat Minnesota, USC, and Washington to make the CFP.

Dante Moore has been one of the best quarterbacks in the country this season. The former UCLA Bruin has 19 passing touchdowns to just five interceptions.

His production has been modest in the last two weeks (total of 198 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception), though.

Another year, another awesome Ducks rushing attack. Four different running backs have at least 40 carries this season – all of them average at least 5.9 yards per rush.

The best of the bunch is Noah Whittington, who leads the team with 551 yards. Whittington has a conference-best 8.1 yards per carry. Jordon Davison has a whopping 10 touchdowns.

Oregon has two future NFL studs in its pass-catching ranks. Kenyon Sadiq is likely the first tight end off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft. Sadiq has a team-leading five receiving touchdowns.

True freshman Dakorien Moore already looks like a first-round pick in the 2028 NFL Draft. He leads the Ducks in catches and yards.

Oregon’s defense is also chock-full of future NFL talent. Pass rusher Matayo Uiagalelei, defensive lineman A’Mauri Washington, and defensive back Dillon Thieneman are all currently in the consensus top-50 for 2026 Big Boards.

Minnesota vs Oregon Best Bets

  • Minnesota +26.5

My logic here is that Oregon has scored 27 points in regulation just once in its last five games, scoring 56 against Rutgers. While Oregon has covered 20-point spreads three times this season, they are 0-2 ATS in Big Ten games with 20-point spreads.

  • Over 43.5

Both teams have favored the under in recent weeks, but 43.5 is quite a small total for a college game (that does not include Iowa). It is the lowest non-Iowa total on Oregon’s schedule this season.

Minnesota has played in four games with a total below 43.5 (including the Iowa game). The over is 3-1 in those games for this Minnesota vs Oregon best bet.

Minnesota holds the lifetime edge 3-1, winning both regular-season matchups. However, the Golden Gophers have never made the trek to Eugene. Minnesota is 2-0 at home, and the teams split their pair of Sun Bowl matchups.

Minnesota and Oregon last played on New Year’s Eve 2003. Minnesota won a thrilling game with a last-minute field goal. Led by Laurence Maroney’s 131 yards and a touchdown, Minnesota capped off a 10-win season.

On the Oregon side, Kellen Clemens and Samie Parker hooked up 16 times for a ridiculous 200 yards and two touchdowns.
