Malachi Toney Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Toney is far and away Miami’s most explosive receiving threat, leading the team with 99 receptions, 1,089 yards and nine receiving touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. The freshman also led the team with 132 targets and is a huge threat in the redzone on option routes and end-arounds that make him a matchup nightmare.
The Florida native’s footwork and uncanny agility have quickly molded him into one of the most dynamic players in college football. Over 60% of his receiving yards have come after the catch, and the Hurricanes will get him the ball in space early and often in this contest, forcing the Hoosiers’ defensive backs to tackle.
Toney is capable of game-changing plays from anywhere on the field and demonstrated that with a highlight-reel touchdown against Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl.
Malachi has four touchdowns in his past five games, with Miami’s ability to block on the perimeter giving Toney advantageous matchups. Expect to see Toney dominate redzone touches and find the endzone once again in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Kaelon Black Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Kaelon Black led the Indiana backfield with 12 touchdowns this season and has three in just the College Football Playoffs alone. In fact, the former three-star recruit has been a touchdown machine of late, scoring five touchdowns in his past four games.
Miami gave up just 86 rushing yards per game this season but finished 79th in rushing EPA per play allowed. The Hurricanes have surrendered a rushing touchdown in back-to-back games as both Bo Jackson and Kewan Lacy broke away for touchdown runs. Lacy in particular had a ton of success against Miami’s front, rushing for 103 yards on just 11 carries.
Black’s role as the change-of-pace back should allow him to see lighter boxes against the Hurricanes, and his short-area quickness and vision make him a prime candidate to get in the endzone. With the Hoosiers favored in a high-scoring game, expect to see Black get double-digit touches and score a touchdown.
