A top-10 SEC showdown headlines Week 10 of the CFB season as No. 18 Oklahoma (6-2 SU, 2-2 SEC) battles No. 14 Tennessee (6-2 SU, 2-2 SEC). With each of these powerhouses sitting at 6-2, Saturday night’s showcase is effectively a College Football Playoff eliminator. Tune into this Oklahoma vs Tennessee SEC slugfest from Neyland Stadium on ABC at 730pm ET.

Oklahoma vs Tennessee Prediction

Tennessee’s offense is rolling on all cylinders. The deep passing attack is the Volunteers’ preferred weapon. Quarterback Joey Aguilar spins the pigskin with reckless abandon, leading to over 2,300 yards and 18 touchdowns. His deep stable of wide receivers gives the Vols the ability to spread the football around, and force defenses to pick their poison.

Oklahoma goes the way of their top-tier defense, but with star quarterback John Mateer ailing, I doubt the Sooners can keep up. Once the Heisman Trophy favorite, Mateer has posted a 36.4 PFF passing grade since returning from hand surgery, with eight turnover-worthy plays. Both marks tie for the worst in all of college football. I’m betting that Mateer’s accuracy problems doom the Sooners on the road.

Oklahoma vs Tennessee Prop Bets

PlayerProp BetOdds
John MateerUnder 32.5 Rushing Yards-114
Star ThomasOver 25.5 Rushing Yards-114
Chris Brazell Anytime Touchdown+110

Since returning from injury, Mateer has been ineffective rushing the football. The junior has rushed for just 36 total yards in three games against Texas, South Carolina and Ole Miss. While the Volunteers secondary is susceptible to big plays, their rushing defense has been elite this season, allowing just 3.6 yards per carry. Plus, Tennessee has allowed just one of the last four quarterbacks faced to cross this number. All eyes will be on Mateer tonight, and the Vols defense should be able to contain him.

DeSean Bishop powers the Vols rushing attack, with Star Thomas coming off the bench as the scat-back. Thomas has crossed this line in seven of eight games this season, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Oklahoma has a stout rushing defense that fades to allow 4.1 yards per carry in the second half, and the Sooners have given up over 28 yards to game to backup running backs this season. With the threat of Tennessee’s deep passing game, Thomas will have plenty of room to roam.

Meanwhile, Volunteers receiver Chris Brazell has dominated from the friendly confines of Neyland Stadium this season. The 6’5 junior has hauled in six touchdowns at home already with a 60% catch rate inside the red zone. Brazell averages over 7 targets per game, and with an insane 17.2 yards per catch has every opportunity to pop off against a Sooners secondary that’s allowed three receiving touchdowns over their past three games.

Oklahoma vs Tennessee Lines

TeamSpreadMoneylineTotal
Oklahoma+2.5 (+100)+122Over 55.5 (-105)
Tennessee-2.5 (-122)-144Under 55.5 (-115)

Tennessee are 2.5-point favorites in the closing Week 10 college football lines. The Oklahoma vs. Tennessee total is set at 55.5, with the under being favored at -115 and the over coming back at -105.

The public loves the Vols in this one as 77% of against-the-spread bets and 64% of moneyline plays are on Tennessee in the college football public betting splits.
