The national championship odds ahead of Week 10 continue to favor undefeated #1 Ohio State (+200) with #2 Indiana a distant +600 second-favorite.
Early Week 10 Lines to Target: Vanderbilt (+1.5) vs Texas
The Commodores’ near-perfect season continued in Week 9 with an impressive 17-10 win at home over #15 Missouri. Vandy’s pass defense was suffocating, holding Matt Zollers to just 138 yards through the air on 14-of-23 passing.
Texas has rebounded from a disappointing 3-2 start with three straight wins, including a 23-6 home victory over then-#6 Oklahoma. But the last two wins have been anything but inspiring; the Longhorns eked out a 16-13 OT win at Kentucky in Week 8 as 13.5-point favorites, and needed overtime again in a 45-38 win at Mississippi State in Week 9 as 8.5-point chalk.
Making matters worse, starting QB Arch Manning left their Week 9 win with a concussion. Backup Matt Caldwell, a Troy transfer and former DII pivot, has thrown just 11 passes this season, though that includes a game-winning TD pass against Mississippi State. Early injury reports render it unlikely that Manning will play in Week 10 against Vanderbilt.
Texas is now just 2-6 ATS on the season, compared to a 6-2 ATS mark for the Commodores, who have smashed all preseason expectations. Vandy was picked to finish 13th in the SEC preseason media poll, and 14th by ESPN.
