Pittsburgh vs ECU Prediction, Player Prop Picks & Spread for Saturday’s Military Bowl

• East Carolina (8-4) is back in the Military Bowl for the second straight year when it takes on Pitt (8-4) Saturday at 11 a.m. in Annapolis.
• Pitt is a double-digit favorite over the Pirates, who have been ravaged by defections and transfers.
• I’ve transferred my thoughts to Pittsburgh vs ECU with a prediction, some prop picks and a look at the spread for the 2025 Military Bowl.

Pittsburgh (8-4, 8-4 ATS) seeks its first bowl victory since 2022 when it faces ECU (8-4; 7-5 ATS) in the Military Bowl at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN.

The line on this one has shifted almost by a full touchdown in favor of the Panthers as many key offensive players for ECU have opted out or entered the transfer portal.

Is that enough to carry Pitt against the spread? I’ve got the Pittsburgh vs ECU prediction, a look at some good props and the spread for the Military Bowl.

All signs are this will be a Pitt blowout, and I am taking them to cover the 10.5-point spread. The over/under is a little trickier, but I am leaning toward the under because I just don’t know that ECU will score a bunch of points.

ECU QB Katin Houser has left the program after throwing for 3,300 yards and 19 scores. The Pirates also lost offensive coordinator John David Baker and defensive coordinator Josh Aldrich to new jobs. ECU will likely turn to senior Mike Wright at QB. Wright has been the starter at Vandy, Mississippi State and Northwestern, but has never been good enough to keep the job.

Pitt was one of the surprises in college football in 2025. They switched to freshman QB Mason Heintschel in Week 6 and have gone 6-2 with the true freshman in the lineup, only losing to Notre Dame and Miami.

Pitt has a couple of opt-outs too, but nothing like East Carolina. Star linebacker Rasheem Biles will play, as will good-looking freshman running back Ja’Kyrian Turner.

Pittsburgh vs ECU Spread

Pitt opened as a 4.5-point favorite, and as the ECU departures mounted, the spread has grown by almost a touchdown before kickoff as the money has poured in on the Panthers.

Sometimes that’s a red flag, but we will see. Pitt has won six of its last eight games against the spread. ECU was scoring a lot of points in the last few weeks of the regular season. Five of its last six games hit the over.

Each of East Carolina’s last nine games as an underdog against unranked teams have hit the under.

Marlon Gunn Jr (ECU) or Mason Heintschel (Pitt) Either to Score First TD (+750 at DraftKings)

With all the departures from the Pirates, Gunn Jr, who ran for over 500 yards, will be their primary running back, so if ECU scores early, he’s the best bet. I always feel like people forget about QB sneaks down around the goal line. Heintschel is not really a runner, but he’s a good athlete.

Pitt Over 14.5 First Half Points (-118 at Caesars)

The Panthers put up 28 points in the first half against Georgia Tech, 21 against Stanford and 31 against NC State. ECU’s defense allows 20.3 points a game, but I expect them to be on the field a lot in the first half.
