The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-1, 2-1-0 ATS) look to feast on the struggling Portland State Vikings (0-3, 0-3-0 ATS) in what shapes up as a Saturday night massacre in Honolulu.
The Vikings have been absolutely demolished this season, getting blanked 42-0 and 69-0 in their first two games. The college football odds reflect just how lopsided this matchup appears.
It’s another late-night affair with kickoff scheduled for 11:59pm ET from Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. MW Network has the broadcast coverage.
Let’s dive into the latest lines and what to expect from this mismatch.
Portland State vs Hawaii Odds
Hawaii opened as high as 38.5-point favorites, an astronomical spread that tells you everything about this matchup. The moneylines aren’t even posted at most books because the game is such a foregone conclusion.
The total opened at 52.5 and has climbed to 53.5 and 54.5 at various sportsbooks. That number assumes Hawaii does most of the scoring.

Weaver Gets Another Start
Luke Weaver impressed in relief of the injured Micah Alejado last week, completing 27 of 43 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns against Sam Houston. The junior college transfer showed poise and escapability despite throwing one pick-six.
Alejado remains a game-time decision with his lingering injury, but there’s no reason to risk him against an overmatched FCS opponent. Expect Weaver to get the nod again as Hawaii preserves its starter for conference play.
Pofele Ashlock continues to dominate as Hawaii’s top target. He’s already hauled in 22 catches for 218 yards and three scores through three games. Against Portland State’s porous defense, Ashlock should feast.
The Warriors’ defense has been stout too. They held Sam Houston to just 2.5 yards per carry and forced the Bearkats into a miserable 2-for-11 performance on third down.
Vikings Offense Completely Broken
Portland State’s numbers are almost hard to believe. They’ve managed just 185.3 total yards per game while surrendering 501.7. The Vikings have cycled through four different quarterbacks already, combining for one touchdown pass all season.
The ground game has been equally pathetic, averaging 2.2 yards per carry with just 185 rushing yards total through three games. They’re converting only 25% of third downs and have reached the red zone just three times.
Former Hawaii QB John-Keawe Sagapolutele took over the starting job last week and managed 146 yards with one touchdown and two picks. It was an improvement from the shutouts, but that’s not saying much.
Defensively, it’s been a disaster. Opponents are gashing them for 7.6 yards per rush and 348 rushing yards per game. They’ve already allowed 20 red zone trips and are giving up 54 points per contest.
Portland State vs Hawaii Prediction
- Pick: Hawaii -36.5 (-110 at Bet365)

SPORTSBOOK
Laying nearly 40 points feels crazy, but Portland State might be the worst team in college football. They’ve been outscored 161-20 and haven’t shown any signs of life. Bet365 is giving us -36.5 spread, whereas most books have this at -37.5 or -38.
Hawaii’s passing attack should have a field day. Portland State can’t stop the run (7.6 yards per carry allowed), which means the Warriors can control the game however they want. Even with backups playing the second half, Hawaii should win comfortably.
The Vikings have surrendered 35 fourth-quarter points across three games despite being blown out. That tells you their defense quits when things get tough.
Hawaii hasn’t beaten an FCS opponent by 30+ points since 2012, but this Portland State team is historically bad. I’m predicting the Warriors win big and cover the massive spread.
