Two Mountain West teams with polar opposite offensive identities clash Friday night when San Diego State (4-4) visits Hawaii (4-5). The Aztecs want to pound the rock behind workhorse back Lucky Sutton. The Rainbow Warriors prefer to air it out with quarterback Micah Alejado and his favorite target Pofele Ashlock.
I’m attacking both of these offensive strengths in the player props market tonight. Kickoff is set for 11:00 pm ET from the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu, with truTV handling the broadcast.
The table below lists the main player props for Aztecs vs. Rainbow Warriors, along with my favorite over/under (O/U) to target. The second table features the anytime touchdown props.
SDSU Aztecs vs Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Player Props
My Aztecs vs Rainbow Warriors player props card starts with over 111.5 rushing yards for Lucky Sutton, who faces a Hawaii defense allowing 131.4 rushing yards per game. I’m also targeting an anytime touchdown for Hawaii wideout Pofele Ashlock, who’s due to find paydirt amid a mini-slump.
These are prop bets for SDSU vs Hawaii, so make sure you read our San Diego State vs Hawaii prediction if you’re looking for an expert play on the game total.

San Siego State vs Hawaii Player Props Bet #1: Lucky Sutton Over 111.5 Rushing Yards
Hawaii allows 131.4 rushing yards per game and 4.1 yards per carry. That’s music to my ears when backing Sutton, who’s been a workhorse all season for the Aztecs. He’s fresh off a 158-yard performance against Wyoming, where he bulldozed the Cowboys’ defense on 28 carries.
The numbers back up this play. Sutton’s gone over 111.5 yards in three of his last four games (113, 131, 158). He’s getting fed 20-plus carries regularly. When he gets that kind of volume, he produces.
Sutton’s Recent Production
San Diego State’s offense lives and dies by the ground game. They convert just 34% of their third downs, which means they need to stay ahead of the chains. That’s where Sutton comes in. The Aztecs lean on him early and often to avoid those tough passing situations.
Jacksonville State is the only team in the entire FBS that runs the ball more often than SDSU (65%). Considering no other Aztecs’ running back has over 55 carries, we can feel confident about another large workload for Sutton.
With perfect weather conditions in Honolulu tonight and Hawaii’s vulnerable run defense, Sutton should churn out another big game. The Rainbow Warriors are built to handle pass-heavy attacks in the Mountain West, not grind-it-out rushing teams like SDSU.
Aztecs vs Rainbow Warriors Player Props Bet #2: Pofele Ashlock Anytime TD (+155)
San Diego State’s defense is elite, allowing just 10 points per game, the best in the Mountain West. But Hawaii’s going to need to score to keep pace, and that’s where Ashlock comes in.
The junior wide receiver has gone scoreless in consecutive games after torching Utah State for three TDs in Week 7. However, Pollock has been productive during his TD drought (131 yds), and the books are now undervaluing him at +155 to find the end zone.
Hawaii converts red zone trips at a 97% rate (32 of 33). That’s not a typo. They’re basically automatic inside the 20. Ashlock is their go-to guy when they get close, with 6 touchdowns on just 55 catches this season.
The Rainbow Warriors throw the ball 60.5% of the time. QB Micah Alejado has great chemistry with Ashlock, especially near the goal line. They connected for a touchdown in their first game together against New Mexico, and the connection has only grown stronger.
Even against SDSU’s stingy defense, Hawaii will get their red zone chances. At +155, you’re getting great value on Hawaii’s top red zone target. The Warriors need to score to keep this game competitive, and Ashlock’s the guy they look for when it matters most.
Aztecs vs Rainbow Warriors Anytime Touchdown Odds
Anytime TD odds as of Nov. 8 at BetMGM Sportsbook.
The touchdown market shows you exactly how these teams want to play. Sutton’s juiced at -250 because San Diego State runs it in the red zone. But Ashlock at +155 is the play here. Hawaii’s elite red zone efficiency, combined with his nose for the end zone, makes this great value.
