It’s Homecoming for Utah State (3-3; 5-1 ATS) Friday night when it hosts rival San Jose State (2-4; 3-3 ATS) Friday night on CBS Sports Network.

The Aggies have won 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two schools and are four-point favorites.

Both teams are 1-1 in the Mountain West, and I’m looking to make the right San Jose State vs Utah State prediction with my insights on the betting line for Friday night CFB.

San Jose State vs Utah State Prediction

Home teams have won the last 10 games involving Utah State, and I like the Aggies to win this one and cover against a banged-up Spartan squad.

Watch this line move close to kickoff. San Jose State QB Walker Eget and the nation’s leading wide receiver, Danny Scudero of the Spartans, both have some injury concerns entering Friday night’s game.

Utah State is 3-0 at home for new coach Bronco Mendenhall, and Aggies QB Bryson Barnes is one of 15 FBS quarterbacks to run for at least six touchdowns this season. The school record is eight.

Barnes has 12 touchdown passes, but the Aggies defense has been bad the last two weeks, giving up 99 points.

I know all the trends are for the over, but if San Jose State is without Eget, the Mountain West’s leading passer, and Scudero, they’ll have trouble moving the ball even against a so-so Aggies defense. Eget got hurt in the third quarter of the Spartans loss to Wyoming came back at the very end but didn’t look great.

Back-up senior Xavier Ward completed three passes for 15 yards in his absence. That won’t get it done. San Jose State may turn to freshman QB Tama Amisone. He’s been used as a runner this season. I don’t like the idea of him making his first start on the road.

Utah State is coming off a bad loss in Hawaii, where they allowed the last 20 points of the game. BYU transfer Miles Davis is in his sixth year of college ball leads the Aggies with 416 yards rushing.

San Jose State hasn’t won in Logan since 2007. I don’t see it happening Friday night either. My San Jose State vs Utah State picks leans toward another Aggies win at home.

Utah State is laying four points at most sportsbooks, but it’s 3.5-points at FanDuel. This is the 43rd meeting between the two schools. Utah State has won 10 of the last 11 games, but lost the last time out in 2023.

San Jose State has failed to cover the spread their last six times as underdogs against teams from Utah (that’s skewed by BYU and Utah).
