Joey Aguilar leads Tennessee into The Swamp. Can the Volunteers cover in the Volunteers vs Gators bets?

  • Tennessee is a scant 3.5-point favorite to fend off Florida in an SEC rumble Saturday night on ABC
  • The Volunteers and Gators do it again this time at The Swamp.
  • See below for my Tennessee vs Florida prediction, spread, and best bets for SEC Saturday night.

Hey, we have a Week 13 SEC battle on Saturday, featuring the #20 Tennessee Volunteers (7-3, 4-6 ATS) taking on the unranked Florida Gators (3-7, 4-6 ATS) in this prime ABC-televised matchup.

The books have just enough faith in Tennessee to get the road win but they do not think it will be easy. Florida is struggling but Tennessee has not played well either, making the Volunteers less than tidy favorites in the College Football odds.

This primetime contest is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida, with ABC providing the coverage.

Tennessee vs Florida Prediction

  • Best Bet 1: Tennessee and Florida over 57.5 points (-105)

My first Tennessee vs Florida prediction has the two teams scoring a lot of points on Saturday night. One of the biggest issues for both teams has been their defense. People should not be surprised that the Volunteers have allowed 30 or more points in every SEC game in 2025. Florida’s offense has shown some signs of breaking out but mistakes have often gotten in the way.

The Volunteers rank next to last in the SEC allowing 28.9 points per game. Florida is two spots higher yielding 23.9 points per contest. Both teams are a little leaky against the run with Florida giving up 143.2 yards a contest. Even with the coaching change, the Gators’ defense bleeds big gains on the run.

RB Peyton Harris is out and that lends a little concern to the Tennessee rushing game. However, Coach Josh Heupel needs a huge game from both DeSean Bishop and Star Harris. Tennessee’s offensive line can fly off against the Front Seven of Florida but Florida can do the same on their side of the ball. If Florida QB DJ Lagway curbs the mistakes (13 INT’s), Florida can stay in this one and rack up some points.

Tennessee has lost 17 of the last 20 games in this rivalry to Florida. At one point, they had dropped 11 straight. Considering the above road record over the last half century at The Swamp, Saturday night will be quite the adventure much like it has been against the SEC conference all season.

Florida is a little confident and may be too confident in some ways.

Tennessee vs Florida Spread

TeamsSpreadMoneylineTotal
Tennessee Volunteers-3.5 (-105)-185O 58.5 (-105)
Florida Gators+3.5 (-115)+154U 58.5 (-115)

Tennessee is only a 3.5-point favorite on the spread for Saturday night CFB, with a current listed total of 58.5 points. The Volunteers are modest -185 favorites on the moneyline, with Florida charging back as +154 underdogs.

A $185 wager on the favorites would pay out $100, while a $100 bet on the underdogs returns $154 if they prevail. For the best primetime bets, this one is rough since both teams are below .500 at 4-6 ATS. Florida at home again has won all but two meetings in the last 50 years at The Swamp. One odd fact, Florida has played the toughest schedule in the nation and has a 2-5 conference record. Tennessee, however, is not much better at 3-3.

As for the National Championship odds, Tennessee is an extreme longshot at +80000, while Florida is off the board. Honestly, things look almost bleak for Tennessee to make the playoffs at +3000. Their path is basically win out!

There are some big play opportunities on both sides of the ball here on Saturday night. I am taking a few risks on the Tennessee passing attack to air things out a bit more than usual. Florida might suck them into playing a track meet of sorts early on. It may be enough late if touchdowns are needed instead of field goals.

The idea here is that Joey Aguilar and Chris Brazzell II have been a great connection for longer plays all season. Arguably, the talented wide receiver could have a dozen touchdowns right now. He has eight on the season but it feels like he can break a large play off at any time. Florida may not have the wheels in the next layer to keep up with him as the game goes along.

Bettors may need several stiff drinks to get through this one but it will be one fun and grand game. It always is. Records often do not matter in this rivalry.
