DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium will host this Black Friday battle on Friday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 PM ET. ABC will broadcast the game.

My Texas A&M vs Texas early prediction has the Longhorns pulling off the upset at home in a defensive battle, ending the Aggies’ perfect season and keeping their slim CFP hopes alive.

Texas A&M Aggies Analysis

Texas A&M has advanced to 11-0 after clobbering Samford 48-0. It is Texas A&M’s first 11-win season since 2012. With a win over Texas, the Aggies would have their first 12-win season since 1992, their school record. A win would also lock up A&M’s spot in the SEC Title Game for the first time.

Marcel Reed has been a revelation this season, en route to fringe Heisman consideration. Likely to be invited to New York as a finalist, Reed has over 3,000 total yards and more than 30 total touchdowns after a brief, yet effective, stint against Samford.

Running back Rueben Owens has been solid for the Aggies. Entering Week 13, Owens had 570 yards and five rushing touchdowns. He has also been a minor option in the passing attack with 116 receiving yards.

One could argue Texas A&M has the best receiver duo in the country. Through 10 games, KC Concepcion and Mario Craver are both on pace for over 1,000 yards. Concepcion has six extra yards and an SEC-leading eight touchdowns. He is a likely top-50 pick in the NFL Draft.

Speaking of the NFL Draft, Cashius Howell is a likely Day 1 player, and he will be heavily considered for a bevy of defensive awards come award season. He leads the SEC with 11.5 sacks, accounting for most of his 12.5 tackles for loss. He also has an impressive six pass deflections as an edge rusher and a forced fumble.

Texas Longhorns Analysis

Texas has had a disappointing season given its expectations as the preseason No. 1 team in the country. The Longhorns are not yet eliminated from CFP contention, but they would need a lot of chaos in the next two weeks to have even a puncher’s chance. Of course, that path begins with a statement win over the Aggies in this Texas A&M vs Texas early prediction scenario.

Perhaps the most polarizing player in college football, Arch Manning has had a complicated first season as a starter. In the positive column, he has 25 total touchdowns with only seven interceptions. He has also been a capable rushing threat. On the downside, he has had spotty accuracy and vastly underperformed the huge expectations he had entering the season.

Tre Wisner has only played in seven games, but he has been a weapon in the Texas offense. He has over 500 yards of total offense, accounting for four touchdowns. Texas’ offensive line has had its issues, affecting both Wisner and Manning, though.

Sophomore pass-catcher Ryan Wingo is one of the top receivers in the SEC. He has 40 catches for 655 yards and six touchdowns entering Week 13. Fellow receiver Parker Livingstone is second on the team with five receiving touchdowns.

Even with the team’s overall struggles, Texas has one of the best defenses in the country. It begins with edge rusher Colin Simmons, a slam-dunk top-10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Simmons has 9.0 sacks, 11.0 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.

Texas A&M vs Texas: Last Five Matchups

For a rivalry that dates back to 1894, Texas holds the lifetime edge 77-37-5. A&M only has three wins in the series this millennium after dominating in the 1980s and 1990s.

In their first matchup as SEC opponents last year, No. 3 Texas beat No. 20 Texas A&M at Kyle Field 17-7. A&M’s offense was shut out as the Aggies only scored on a 93-yard pick-six from Will Lee. Texas had 458 yards of offense, including over 200 scrimmage yards from Tre Wisner.
