It is another Big 12 battle next Saturday between two very good teams, featuring the Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-1, 10-1 ATS) taking on the BYU Cougars (11-1, 9-3 ATS) in this version of the Big Noon Kickoff matchup.
The books contend that the Red Raiders should win again versus BYU for their 12 win and a bye in the college football playoff. That would drop BYU and may initially elevate Texas Tech in the College Football odds.
This Big 12 Championship Game is scheduled for noon ET from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with FOX providing the coverage.
Texas Tech vs BYU Odds
Texas Tech opens as a 12.5-point favorite on the spread for next Saturday afternoon CFB, with an early listed total of 50.5 points. The moneyline paints Texas Tech as a big -520 favorite, which is about two or three points higher than some may have expected. Then again, the Red Raiders did just paste West Virginia in Morgantown 49-0 in Week 14.
For the best Big Noon Kickoff bets, expect Texas Tech to still cover the spread as they have amazingly covered in all but one matchup in 2025.
In the National Championship odds, Texas Tech was moving up at +1200, while BYU is a much longer shot at +40000. Honestly, the Cougars were mildly tested for most of the game against UCF and that was a little surprising.

Texas Tech vs BYU Opening Line
The juice, like we mentioned above, is squeezing toward Texas Tech by almost two touchdowns. It is amazing but the game is in Texas and the Red Raiders’ fans will travel well to Arlington for this tilt. Watch the line on this one because coming back to it later might be more value on the dollar especially if BYU money rolls in.

My Texas Tech vs BYU prediction has the Red Raiders finding a way to cover the spread. In November, they beat expectations easily on this one and held BYU to 254 yards of total offense. The Cougars might mount more of a challenge but the result figures to be the same.
The Red Raiders’ possess one of the nastiest, shut-down defenses in the nation. It rivals Ohio State and gets after quarterbacks. Texas Tech yielded a mere 135 points in 12 games. Texas Tech held BYU to 57 yards rushing while grinding their way to 149. Cameron Dickey and J’Koby Williams combined for 198 yards.
Hey, One More Bet!
- Early Prediction: Texas Tech and BYU (Under 50.5 points at -110 via FanDuel)
BYU is not going to rally and score 41 points against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have allowed 20+ points twice all season and one was that loss to Arizona State where Will Hammond was the quarterback and not Behren Morton. Morton aired it out against West Virginia to the tune of 310 yards and three scores. The quarterback has 20 touchdowns in 10 games to four interceptions.
Bear Bachmaier was very good against UCF but UCF mailed the game in during the second half. Texas Tech will not do that and allows a mere 266 yards of offense per game. This tilt figures to be a little higher scoring than the first meeting but getting to 51 points might be too much to ask.
Texas Tech vs BYU H2H History
This matchup has features a split of the previous two meetings since the third was over 85 years ago! Texas Tech clinching a college football playoff spot adds a level of intrigue here with BYU needing a win to make the second season.
