It’s a huge SEC showdown Saturday evening between a pair of ranked teams, featuring the #11 Texas Longhorns (7-2, 2-6-1 ATS) taking on #5 Georgia Bulldogs (8-1, 4-5 ATS).
The books believe the Bulldogs will win their third game versus the Longhorns since Week 8 of last season, making Georgia the favorites in the college football odds.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET from Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia, with ABC providing the coverage.
Texas vs Georgia Preview
This matchup is essentially a playoff elimination game for Texas. With two losses already, the Longhorns can’t afford another slip-up if they want to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive. Georgia’s positioning for an SEC Championship Game berth and a potential first-round playoff bye.
The quarterback duel features Arch Manning, who’s thrown for 300+ yards and three touchdowns in consecutive games, against Georgia’s Gunner Stockton. Steve Sarkisian brings a concerning 2-11 record at Texas against top-10 opponents, including two losses to Georgia last year.
Texas vs Georgia Betting Odds
Between this pivotal Texas vs Georgia tilt, it’s the Bulldogs who are significant -210 favorites on the moneyline, with Texas coming back as the +172 underdogs.
Georgia are 5.5-point favorites on the spread for Saturday night CFB with an opening listed total of 47.5 points. Both are inside the top-ten choice in the National Championship odds, with Georgia +1100 and Texas +3300.
A $210 wager on the favorites would pay out $100, while a $100 bet on the underdogs returns a cool $172.

Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook as of 1:45 p.m. ET on Nov. 10. Read our FanDuel Review before wagering on Saturday CFB.
Our SBD model prediction has a 22.7-21.6 upset victory for Texas in this barnburner, which points to them covering the spread and the under points total hitting.
If you’re inclined to want to back the Longhorns, now would be the time to do it, with the College Football lines already moving from -6.5 Monday morning to -5.5, and it could close with even shorter odds.
Texas vs Georgia Matchup Analysis
Despite holding a 7-2 record, Texas has been awful at covering the spread on the campaign, going 2-6-1, compared to Georgia, who are 4-5 ATS. The Longhorns have won four straight, but they needed OT to defeat the now 4-5 Kentucky Wildcats and 5-5 Mississippi State Bulldogs. In their most recent outing, Texas won by a field goal over Vanderbilt.
Key Offensive & Defensive Stats (Out of 16 SEC Teams)
Meanwhile, Georgia is coming off a 20-point smackdown of Mississippi State, and also defeated Kentucky earlier in the year by 21 points, both teams Texas barely squeaked by. The third and final matchup that featured both Texas and Georgia facing the same squads resulted in a 24-20 Bulldogs win over Florida, while the Longhorns dropped their meeting with the Gators 29-21.
Texas vs Georgia Prediction
- Spread Pick: Georgia -5.5 (-115)
- Total Pick: Under 47.5 Points (-110)
I’m picking Georgia to cover the spread and the game to come under the posted total. Texas’s struggles against the number, combined with each team’s performance against common opponents, has me predicting a convincing UGA victory.
Georgia’s defense finally showed up strong against Mississippi State after being questioned all season. Their offensive line is playing its best football of the campaign, and if they establish the run with Nate Frasier, Stockton can pick apart the Texas defense through the air.
Texas’s offensive line struggles remain a major concern. For the Longhorns to pull the upset, Arch Manning must continue his creative playmaking while getting some protection up front. They’ll need to prevent Georgia from controlling the game on the ground and get key defensive stops.
The home-field advantage at Sanford Stadium and Georgia’s superior ground game should prove decisive. Look for the Bulldogs to cover the 5.5-point line while both defenses keep scoring under the 47.5 total.
As for the point total in this duel, I look at the fantastic defenses that both teams have to point to selecting the under 47.5 total. That especially rings true based on their results last year head-to-head.

Texas vs Georgia Recent H2H History
Last year, Georgia got the better of Texas twice, doubling them up 30-15 in Week 8, then dispatching them 22-19 in overtime in the SEC Championship.
These two battled on New Year’s Day in 2019, with Texas winning by seven points, but prior to that, Texas hadn’t squared off versus Georgia since way back in 1983.
