College Football Upset Predictions Week 2 – Top Underdog Picks Today

The old cliché is that teams make their biggest improvements from Week 1 to Week 2 of the football season. Your betting habits should improve as well.

There are always upsets every week of college football season, just look at Florida State last week. These are the teams on Upset Alert for Week 2.

I’ve got four games for Saturday that scream upset. Below are my upset predictions for Week 2. All odds as of Sept. 6.

I always look for home teams getting points against ranked teams during college football season. Duke fits the bill. Illinois is No. 11, but the Illini have not beaten a power conference teams on the road since 2007. 2007!

The fact that this spread is as close as it is should be telling. Duke has won 17 of its last 20 games at home. The Blue Devils used the transfer portal to bring in quarterback Darian Mensah from Tulane, where he emerged as a star. He threw for 389 and three scores in a win over Elon in Week 1.

Illinois is big and tough and has an experienced QB in Luke Altmyer, but I love Duke with the QB and crowd to pull an upset.

CFB Upset Pick: Oklahoma State +27.5 at Oregon (-108 at DraftKings)

No, I don’t believe the Cowboys can win this game, but they can cover. OK State has covered its last eight road openers, while Oregon has won its last 40 games at home against non-ranked teams.

I tried to find out the last time Oklahoma State was underdogs by this many points and couldn’t find it. They were 21-point underdogs to Oklahoma way back in 2019 and lost by a point.

The Cowboys went 3-9 against the spread last season, and got slammed 52-0 in their finale by Colorado, but that was the only game all season they lost by more than 27 points. Oregon is great, we know that, but Oklahoma State is still a legit FBS team. It’s closer than 27.5 points.

CFB Upset Pick: UNC +12.5 at Charlotte (-105 at DraftKings)

The line on this game has dropped almost 10 points since Monday, that’s when the Bill Belichick era started with a resounding dud in Chapel Hill, a 48-14 loss to TCU.

I watched that game, and I saw a UNC defense that was helpless at the point of attack. Charlotte isn’t as good as TCU, but they do have QB Conner Harrell who started for (wait for it) North Carolina last year and led the Tar Heels to a win over (wait for it) Charlotte. Think he might want some revenge?

UNC is 0-5 in its last five games against the spread. There are already QB issues at UNC with Gio Lopez getting hurt. UNC has lost its last three games as a favorite. The game is in Charlotte’s stadium. Tell me no more.

CFP Upset Prediction: UCLA +2.5 at UNLV (-105 at BetMGM)

UCLA has fallen off the college football map in the last 13 months. They brought in transfer QB Nico Iamaleava from Tennessee, and he struggled in a loss to Utah in Week 1, 11-22 for 136 yards.

UNLV is 2-0 under new coach Dan Mullen. They have covered the spread in their last eight September games and won 10 in a row against non-ranked teams.

The Bruins should not be favored against anyone at this stage of their rebuilding project.
