The betting market has shown support for the home team, pushing South Florida from -11 to -13.5. The total has held steady at 67.5.

South Florida enters Thursday with clear advantages across the board. The Bulls rank 23rd in Net EPA per play, compared to UTSA at 73rd.

USF’s balance stands out—58th in offensive EPA, 52nd in defensive EPA, with success rate marks of 49th on offense and 27th on defense.

UTSA has been far more uneven. The Roadrunners are 59th in offensive EPA but drop to 120th defensively. In terms of success rate, they’re 84th on offense and 30th on defense.

The biggest discrepancy comes on crucial downs. USF ranks 17th in 3rd/4th down success rate offensively and 60th defensively. UTSA sits 124th on offense in that area and 78th on defense.

With the Bulls’ offense capable of generating explosive plays and the Roadrunners facing a short-week road trip, this sets up well for the home side. South Florida has five more days of rest and preparation heading into tonight’s contest.

All of this should benefit a Bulls team looking to correct mistakes from their prior game when they fell 34-31 at Memphis. The 31 points USF scored was their lowest mark in five games. Prior to that loss, South Florida was averaging 57 points per game.

I expect South Florida to cover -13.5 and get back in the win column in this UTSA vs South Florida prediction.

USF quarterback Byrum Brown has shown plenty of upside this season. Through eight games, he’s thrown for over 1,960 yards with 17 touchdowns to six interceptions.

While his completion rate sits at just 63%, he more than makes up for it with his mobility—he’s logged 120 rushing attempts for 596 yards and eight scores.

In most situations with a dual-threat quarterback like Brown, I’d be more inclined to target his rushing yards rather than his passing. However, based on the expected game script and tempo, I think South Florida will look to keep him more controlled in the pocket instead of leaning on designed runs.

He shouldn’t need to get overly creative to produce against this vulnerable Roadrunners defense. This is a strong matchup for him—UTSA has struggled against the pass, ranking 120th in EPA per dropback and allowing 253.4 passing yards per game.

I expect Brown to take advantage and clear his passing prop of 260.5 yards.

The second prop I’m targeting is UTSA’s top receiver, Devin McCuin, over 49.5 receiving yards. McCuin is averaging 5.4 catches and 57.5 yards per game and has gone over 50 yards in six of eight contests.

As a double-digit underdog, UTSA will likely be forced into a pass-heavy script, which should keep McCuin heavily involved throughout. His quarterback, Owen McCown, is a capable passer and has clearly expressed favoritism toward McCuin.

That’s his go-to guy, and he should be looking to get him involved early and often throughout tonight’s affair.
