  • Wednesday MACtion continues with an Ohio battle on Nov. 12
  • The winner gets its sixth win of the season
  • Read below for my Toledo vs Miami (OH) prediction and picks – as well as the updated betting line

The Toledo Rockets (5-4, 3-2 in the MAC) head to Oxford to face the Miami (OH) RedHawks (5-4, 4-1 in the MAC) in a battle to stay alive for the MAC Title Game. Yager Stadium plays host to a 7 PM ET kickoff on Wednesday, Nov. 12, on an ESPN2 broadcast.

I have finalized my prediction for Toledo vs Miami (OH) and given my associated pick for MACtion. Additionally, I have given the betting lines below.

Toledo vs Miami (OH) Prediction

  • Toledo 27, Miami (OH) 24

Toledo has alternated wins and losses in their last seven games, going 4-3 to add to their 1-1 start versus Kentucky teams. The Rockets have won three of their last four MAC games, only dropped their rivalry game at Bowling Green. The Rockets have yet to win on the road this season (but they have yet to lose at home).

Quarterback Tucker Gleason is among the best in the MAC. He leads the conference in completion percentage, passing touchdowns, and passing efficiency. The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket has multiple passing touchdowns in four of Toledo’s five wins. Last week, he threw for a season-best 309 yards and two touchdowns.

Toledo has a solid one-two backfield punch of Deamonte Trayanum and Kenji Christian. Trayanum leads the team with 637 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. Christian has played every game for the Rockets, pitching in with 412 yards and three touchdowns on a healthy 5.3 yards per carry.

Junior Vandeross III is one of the best receivers in the MAC. He leads the Rockets with 58 catches and 705 yards, but his nine receiving touchdowns lead all MAC players. Vandeross is the only Rocket with multiple touchdown catches. Trayvon Rudolph has been a solid second fiddle, catching 30 passes for 341 yards.

On defense, watch for the secondary duo of Braden Awls and Andre Fuller. Awls leads the conference with four interceptions. Fuller has eight pass breakups to lead the MAC. Toledo’s defense is among the best in the country – allowing just 14.6 points per game (ninth in FBS).

Miami fell flat on its face three straight weeks to open the season 0-3, but they have been dialed in since. They rattled off five wins in a row before a fourth-quarter loss to Ohio last week. Miami is one of four MAC teams who enter this week with just one conference loss.

If there is any particular player to watch in this game, it is quarterback DeQuan Finn. He has modest stats, accruing 13 total touchdowns and throwing six picks. However, he is a former Toledo Rocket – he even won MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. Can Finn exact revenge on his former school and lead Miami to a win?

In addition to Finn’s ground exploits (395 official yards and four touchdowns), Jordan Brunson has been an effective back for the RedHawks. He leads the team with 444 yards. Fellow running back D’Shawntae Jones has four rushing touchdowns on just 33 carries this season.

Miami’s passing offense goes through three receivers: Keith Reynolds, Cole Weaver, and Kamryn Perry. Reynolds is the possession receiver of the group, averaging 9.3 yards per reception on a team-leading 29 catches. Weaver represents the middle ground with 12.8 yards per catch. Perry is the accelerator of the group, leading the nation with 26.4 yards per catch. He has a whopping 657 yards on just 25 catches.

Defensively, keep an eye on Adam Trick. He leads the RedHawks with 10.0 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks. He also has an interception, two pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

Toledo vs Miami (OH) Pick

  • Miami (OH) +4.5 (-118, Underdog)

In line with my prediction, here is my justification for selecting Miami (OH) +4.5:

  • In their last six games, the RedHawks are 5-1 against the spread with five outright wins. I think Miami is live to beat Toledo, so the 4.5 points are a bonus.
  • Favorites in their ninth straight game, Toledo has lost outright three different times. In their only spread shorter than a touchdown, the Rockets (-1.5) lost by 21 to Washington State.
  • At home this season, Miami is 3-1 with their only loss coming to solid UNLV squad by three points. If this form holds, The RedHawks will cover +4.5 at worst.

Toledo vs Miami (OH) Betting Market

Betting MarketToledoMiami (OH)
Spread-3.5 (-115, FanDuel)+4.5 (-118, Underdog)
Moneyline-175 (ESPNBet)+166 (Underdog)
TotalO 45 (-110, Fanatics)U 46.5 (-122, BetRivers)

The books have Toledo as short road favorites for MACtion. The total is set between 45 and 46.5 points. Over bettors can get over 45 at Fanatics for -110 odds. Under bettors can get under 46.5 on BetRivers for -122 odds.

Toledo bettors can get the Rockets -3.5 on the spread at FanDuel (-115 odds) or -175 on the moneyline at ESPN Bet. Miami bettors can get the RedHawks at +4.5 on the spread at Underdog (-118 odds) or +166 on the moneyline, also at Underdog.

Miami holds the lifetime edge 29-24-1. However, Toledo has won five of the last seven matchups dating back to the 2004 MAC Title Game.
