The Summer X-Games is still the gold standard in extreme sports. The 2017 edition will be taking place in Minneapolis, Minnesota (July 13-16) and will see the best daredevil athletes in the world doing things most of us can’t even pull off in a video game.

There are a lot of interesting storylines heading into this year’s X-Games: Garrett Reynolds will be looking for his 10th gold medal in BMX Street, and skateboard Jedi Nyjah Huston will be looking to continue his street dominance.

In Skateboarding Vert, Canadian Pierre-Luc Gagnon returns to the ramp to try to win his 10th gold medal.

It won’t be all repeat winners. New stars make names for themselves at the X-Games every year, performing unforeseen — and in some cases unforeseeable — new stunts. Of course, tricks don’t always go according to plan, so whether you like big air or big wipe outs, there X-Games will deliver.

Although I can’t throw a 900 off a halfpipe, or get gnarly on a dirt bike, I can set the odds for big events. So let me give you an idea of who the favorites are to win in each discipline. “Radical!” – An Old Guy (me).
