The Avengers films have a celebrated critical history. Marvel movies overall seem to have no trouble performing well among critics, judging by the scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

Looking at the 10 most recent installments in this franchise, we see an overall very successful run on the review aggregator. These films are certified fresh across the board. That’s a win for these heroes.

Examining all 21 films under this film umbrella, we see an average of 83.86%, with Black Panther as the most critically acclaimed. Many others rank high as well.

Even when you consider the overall lowest score is 66% for Thor: The Dark World, that’s not even too terrible. Marvel even bounced back hugely with the follow-up Thor: Ragnarok with 92%.

Looking at the competition, the DC Extended Universe is much worse off with some real stinkers in the midst. Both Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman are rated equally at 27% a piece. Yikes.

Critics Have Been Kind to Iron Man in the Past

People are really looking for Avengers: Endgame to tie up the Tony Stark/Iron Man character that Robert Downey Jr. has become synonymous with. It’s rumored the character might even be killed off for good this time around. Juicy!

With Downey Jr.’s celebrated history in this role and the integrity his character has brought these films, it seems likely that Avengers: Endgame is going to be well appreciated by critics. They’ve been kind to Downey Jr.’s Iron Man all along, so why would that change now?

As we head into opening weekend, Avengers: Endgame has everything in its favor and no strikes against it. The franchise has repeatedly killed it at the box office and with critics, and this time will be no different.

We also see a film with such a beloved cast including critical darlings like Josh Brolin, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle. Avengers: Endgame is going to perform well. It’s a no-brainer.
