After 33 combined seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, the franchise is casting their first ever black lead.

Rachel Lindsay was a contestant on the most recent season of The Bachelor, where she unsuccessfully competed for the heart of Nick Viall. Now, she’ll have 31 contestants vying for her hand in marriage.

The show has come under criticism lately for its lack of minority contestants. ABC listened and responded.

Who will Rachel pick? Will the final couple be an interracial item? Here’s hoping the next season breaks down some barriers that are inexplicably still standing.

Let’s take a look at the odds.

The Bachelorette Odds

Odds to win season 13

Jack Stone: 6/1

Jack Stone and Rachel already share one thing in common: they’re both attorneys. That may not be much but it’s a starting point. He also loves dogs, so that’s a huge plus.

Anthony: 7/1

Anthony is a bookish sweetheart who taught English in Indonesia. Now, he’s an Education Software Manager. At 26, he’s a little on the young side for the 33-year-old Rachel. But who knows, maybe it’s meant to be.

Kenneth: 9/1

His name is Kenneth but his friends call him “Diggy”. That’s really all we know about him at the moment. He seems like a fun guy, which is more than can be said for a lot of the other contestants.

Bryce: 20/1

Bryce describes himself as a “fresh drink of water with a jolt of lightning”. Don’t know what that means? Don’t worry, neither does Bryce. He’s a firefighter, though. That’s pretty cool.

Kenny: 25/1

Kenny is a professional wrestler. If Lindsay has any sense, she’ll pick him immediately. When the show gets a little too dialogue heavy, they can always cut to him slamming another contestant through a table.

Kyle: 25/1

Kyle is a Marketing consultant. Like many of the other contestants, I have no idea what they actually do for a living. Here’s a sample: Startup recruiter, Executive recruiter, Hotel recreation supervisor

With all that to deal with, “Marketing consultant” doesn’t seem so bad.

Blake E: 35/1

Blake E’s stated occupation is “aspiring drummer”. The 31-year-old isn’t a drummer yet, but he’ll get there one day. There are two Blake’s competing this season, and the other is a Marine. Something tells me Blake E will be the lesser Blake.

Odds the final couple is interracial: 1/1

Just look at the cast. ABC promised a more diverse cast for their lucky lady, and they didn’t disappoint. Previous seasons have seen most non-white contestants eliminated early on, but that was the old Bachelorette.
