- The European Tour’s KLM Open from Amsterdam tees off Thursday September 12th
- Solid field headlined by Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood
- We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious
The European Tour heads to Amsterdam this week for the KLM Open at The International Golf Course, the first time this event has been hosted at this venue, so past champions at this event don’t have any course history and success to fall back on.
Thomas Pieters won this tournament four years ago and enters this week as the second betting favorite, behind Patrick Reed who got off his winless drought at last month’s Northern Trust, the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Local Boy Joost Luiten a Solid Wager at KLM Open
If you’re into trends then Joost Luiten winning hardware at this tournament for the third time is most definitely for you. Luiten, a six-time European Tour winner, won this tournament in 2013, then three years later in 2016, and now his time seems to be now yet again, three years later, all of which would occur on different golf courses.

The quirky Dutchman has serious game, ranking inside the top-15 in the Race to Dubai standings three times since 2013, posting four top-10’s this season. While he hasn’t lit the world on fire as of late, he’s put together a string of solid tournaments, which could be said about virtually all the top contenders, apart from Patrick Reed and Thomas Pieters coming out of hibernation recently to post victories. Count on the local favorite putting together another run at his third KLM Open title.

2019 KLM Open Best Value Picks
- Sam Horsfield (+2800): Solid in last four starts, posting three top-14 finishes in that span, highlighted by a T-3rd at the Czech Masters.
- Romain Langasque (+5000): Posted a runner-up finish this year and a pair of third place results. Very streaky player prone to off weeks but when he’s in contention, stays right in the thick of things. 20th on Race to Dubai Standings.
- Andres Romero (+8000): Held 54-hole lead in last tournament, the Omega European Masters before ultimately losing in a five-man playoff. Another extremely streaky player might be a great reward, or a total dud.
